How do you gas out in the first round?!

He was throwing a high amount of power punches and I don't believe he was THAT gassed, if he were then he wouldn't have been able to throw punches like he did for the finish.

I'd say he likely blew himself out for a short period, deliberately took a break and the commentators went crazy thinking this ment he was hurt and/or terribly gassed because that's what UFC commentary always does, yoyo like crazy to whoever they think might win at any moment.

Its pretty easy to gas in 5 minutes when you put everything into every single shot with a lot of volume and an opponent who is pushing, even for a highly trained person. I like sakis style but he needs to adapt it more for mma. In kickboxing its 3x3 minutes rounds most of the time so its a lot different.

TS: If you're referring to Saki, it's probably because striking and grappling/mma clinch/ tdd cardio are different in the way they fatigue you. He could probably throw strikes all day but when you're not used to grappling and mixing it up it can be extremely taxing on your stamina as a fighter.

Sometimes the first round is like a sprint. You can only sprint for so long.

Go hit a punching bag with repeated rights and lefts nonstop as fast as you can for as long as you can.

Even if you are a world class athlete you can only explode 100% for so long.

Fighting is unlike any other sport. There are so many different positions and techniques and situations that can quickly exhaust a fighter.

Also, taking damage slows you down as well. Blows to the head and body can additionally suck your wind

this, sometimes its a sprint and not a marathon

you can compare it to something like soccer, but they occasionally take a moment to walk/jog when the ball is on the other side of the field/out of bounds etc.

in fighting you can never take a second to catch your breath unless your opponent allows you to.

sometimes its less comparable to running and more comparable to doing long sets of bench press as fast as you can etc.

Weight cuts.
It's something you don't do during training so you can't prepare for it.

The effects it has on your body can vary from time to time.
So even if you were fine the last time, the next time might wear you out.

Usain Bolt runs for ten seconds and is breathing heavy.

...speed kills.

getting kicked and punched to the body will take anyones stamina away pretty quickly.

Absolutely this. Body shots don't give a shit about your conditioning. They take their toll.

So because you supposedly have "years of Muay Thai" you believe skinny-fat Kenyan marathon runners are prepared to compete in combat sports?

There's no response to this absurdity.

Enjoy your ignorance, bro. Clutch it to your chest like a precious artifact. You are a unique and rare form of idiot. Don't want to spoil that shit.
What personal experience do you have that has convinced you that running isn't important for cardio in combat sports?
