How Did The UFC Reach A Point Where The Champion Is The One

I am just going by GSP's own admission. He sees aliens and misses blocks of time, so I guess you may be right, my opinion based on GSP interviews may not be founded on reality, because GSP was flying over the cuckoo's nest at the time of his retirement. LOL
Feel free to post GSP's interview where he says he left the sport because the competition was getting better.

trying to build stars.

getting the easiest fights? GSP had to take a break because he was looking at one monster after another. After Hendricks, it was going to be Hendricks rematch, after that Robbie Lawler, after that Tyron Woodley. Basically, concussion after concussion was his immediate future in the UFC. LOL

Tyrone wasn't much when GSP retired, nowhere close to a title shot and certainly no threat to the champion.

And before 167 Robbie won two in a row for the first time in six years, I doubt GSP took a break because of him.
