No, the opioid epidemic is actually hitting the rural white middle and lower class.

This will be a different time in the US because now you have all the US problems hitting the rural white classes for the first time full force.
Those have been usually reserved for minorities around urban areas.
Trump is already the first sign of that.

These shit for brain pet projects hurt the people they claim to help. They had their "war on poverty" that has ripped apart the black family, boosted the single motherhood rate from very low to 75%, created a permanent underclass, a culture of dependence and neighborhoods full of crime. When has wallowing in misery and a victimhood complex ever helped anybody? It's cool, just leave it to a bunch of people you'll never meet, just give them control over every aspect of your life and they'll fix everything. Get the fuck out of here.

I'm fiscally liberal because I believe it benefits us all. I live in a country with higher taxes and it has a low crime rate and safe streets. I believe that income inequality is a big contributor to crime and by housing and educating people we have a much greater chance of making them successful members of the society who are contributors rather than detractors. I believe prisons should be for reform to return people to society in a way that they can contribute. Harsh punishments for the sake of political gain are a grotesque abuse of public naivety.

I'm mostly conservative socially, at least relative to my own country. I think the government should step away from imposing morality and allow the free market of society decide what is acceptable and what isn't (case in point; the infamous cake baking example). I think the far left has embraced a ridiculous and indefensible stance around identity politics and the nonsense is turning people away as well as polarising views. I believe that the polarisation of views is some of the worst outcomes, and when I look at America now I can see only distrust and self destruction from both sides. American politics right now should be a warning to us and I don't think we are heeding the message.
 
Anyone that clings to a label is a chump, a sucker, a fool and part of the reason why the world is as fucked up as it is.

There is no label that is perfect, that can solve all problems and thus should not be taken on by anyone as it chains them and eventually turns them into a shit person clinging to dogma that goes against their own personal beliefs.

I genuinely see many liberal views as regressive and self destructive. Scarily the new NPC meme (the new useful idiots) fits so well, is horrifying as that is.

Its to the point where i'm willing to absorb another 100 years of full steam global warming if we can fix the "insanity of the left" as part of the bargain.
