health of ufc fighters from the early years

    Anyone know how healthy the older fighters are now?

    I know royce is in good heath.

    Some of them are probably doing worst from not being able to afford bills than CTE or related. Which is even sadder

    How early are we talking?

    A majority of fighters have knees/neck/back/joint problems + brain damage.

    I'm not counting all the scar tissue and staph infections either.

    TLDR: MMA is rough on the human body.

    royce was all about skill.

    he was probably chosen because he was the best guy for the job - which was a real bjj demonstration against other arts.

    Even relatively current fighters...
    -Bisping has one eye
    -GSP has stomach issues
    -Brock had stomach issues
    -Anderson's shin shattered
    -Jones toe ripped right off
    -Hendo can't turn his head + missing teeth
    -Cruz's knees are shot
    -Hughes recovering from a train
    -Chuck has brain damage
    -CroCop twitches
    -Big Nog is all kinds of busted
    -Saku's ear fell off
    -Wanderlei has brain damage
    -Shogun's knees are shot
    -Machida's chin is shot
    -Fedor is chinny
    -Kerr is all kinds of messed up
    -Griffin was a blueprint of injuries


    I don't know...the list goes on and on....

    Many have real problems. Much of it from the from the fight game but also other health issues not associated with it. You find the same in boxers and football players after their careers. Some of the stories have been quite sad.

    Jon Hess wants to come back and thinks UFC fighters are all soft and the sport is pussified now . Also thinks he will knock Stipe out cold in like a minute. Well he is undefeated in UFC so he could do it

    wrestling and steriod use in mma seems to have taken its toll on fighters.
