What has McGregor ever done in the Octagon that is so awkward and confusing? Cabo Nate Diaz was able to touch him, and almost KO'd him. If his opponents had a clue about boxing, they would have used all the opportunities he gives them to KO him, and KOd him. It is on the tape.
I just finished watching the Alvarez fight, Conor's most recent fight, and this is what I saw:
Conor stands tall with his chin exposed. When he throws his punches, he leans forward, almost like if he is going to topple over. He often doesn't use his knuckles when punching (boxers pointed this out, and they are right).
Conor has that Bruce Lee "In and out" movement. In fact, he has very little movement. Worst of all, he gases quickly. He was already beginning to gas versus Alvarez (watch closely).
I don't believe that he has fixed all these problems in just a few months. The only things on his side are (1) Size advantage (2) youth.
MMA striking has a long way to go.
