Someone clearly doesnt know what a rate is.

We're a country of immigrants dude, as is Canada, but we have a far higher population. Why is everyone always shitting on us? I like Canada lol
Im not shitting on your country, im just correcting a guy who said GSP has more ppvs because USA is full of immigrants while canada is not. While in fact Canada has a higher immigration rate than USA. Theres nothing wrong about USA at least when it comes to immigrants.

GSP pre Matt Serra loss = entertaining killer. Post serra. Safe fighter. Win on points many decisions. But because he was such a likeable guy with a rabid fan base in Canada. He got a pass. And rightfully so. He's right.
"GSP pre Matt Serra loss = entertaining killer."

The GSP who fought BJ 1 was boring as hell imo...Awful performance against a LW.

I honestly think if GSP was American, he wouldn't have sold half of the PPVs that he did throughout his career. Americans simply don't support their own like the Canadians do (because demographics are far more varied), and GSP was the first huge name in the sport from that area so it makes sense why they latched onto him, hence why he was such a draw.

Still, nobody makes better decisions in and out of the cage than GSP.
Canadian here, I can confirm that the ridiculously patriotic support of their own is actually much more of a french Canadian thing. in case you don't know much about canada, there is a province (a state if you will) that is predominately french canadian (Quebec) where I'm certain much of his fan base comes from.

did gsp really have a whole press conference just for himself. what is going on here. lmfao

I post for the others
I have got a lot out of SD (including a paying gig) & props by guys like Meltzer & others that are the top of their field in sports reporting (ourand, Nash, etc)
Trolls & nitwits are part of being productive on the internet these days.
The good outweighs the bad
No biggie, I try to educate & when futile I move on ;)

Your extent of knowledge is appreciated!

In another thread last week, a member argues with me that GSP did not know how to sell his brand because he did not trash talk.
i explained you don't have to be Chael or Conor to be a smart businessman

This video he explains it in his own words.

Remember the exact definition of "sport" is ...

sport
spôrt/
noun
noun: sport; plural noun: sports
1.
an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.

@LouisBolanos

Tough to say, I agree with a bunch of your points, however, numbers talk. When you factor in that the US has 300+ million more people than canada that can make a huge difference. I also think cause he's a poster boy the great US marketing machine would have been behind him. I think it's likely he would have sold more.

Little late to come at me all rustled. Both countries are made up of all immigrants you fucking dunce. Who has more fucking people? Take your immigration rate over the last few years and shove it up your sensitive Canadian pooper. Land of immigrants USA>Canada. Canada is where immigrants go when America is too hard to get into. Male immigrants in Canada have to visit the PM's wife for a thorough "background" check, supervised by the Trudeau himself.

you're not even counting the 30-40 million illegal immigrants either.

Not neccessarily true, Jon Jones still has a big following, i doubt if he wasnt American he would be as popular as he still is today.

I can't see Fedor/GSP/Anderson going through the shit he went through and still having a die hard fan base that swears by him.

He wasnt the most entertaining but GSP has maintained his marketability from consistency and professionalism in and out if the cage, there isnt a better ambassador to the sport or a better role model to have than GSP today.

He sure went out of his way to entertain us in his fights (cough didn't finish a fight at WW in 4 years)

This is coming from GSP who openly admits he picks opponents based on their "stock value" I get the entertaining value and why fighters have antics from a business standpoint, but they ARE fighters first. If their ultimate goal is not trying to compete with the toughest opponents than they are sellouts just looking for money fights.

This is why I like fighters like Cyborg and Shogun. They are fighters first. Even Shogun doesn't want to hang up the gloves and enjoys fighting more than trying to pick money opponents.
