Why are people surprised at the news that he probably won't defend the MW belt? He said in interviews before he came back that he had a plan and knew what he wanted to do...

It's simple. Come back and beat Bisping and get a second UFC belt further cementing his legacy and giving him leverage. Then vacate the MW belt and fight for the WW belt. If he wins that then I think he would want one more fight against Conor for one more big payday before he sails off into the sunset and retires.

Names of those who are surprised or GTFO

Yes, all those surprised "people" must be really, ehm, surprised. GSP clearly stated that he wanted to continue fighting in mw when he was interviewed after the fight. Never was any doubt in anyones mind that he wouldn´t defend.

GSP said he was obligated to defend his belt against Whittaker.

Yes, it was a legitimate surprise when he said he probably won't now.....

Yeah I'm surprised that he got colitis from gaining weight and now he's using is an "excuse" not to defend the belt. People need to STFU. He's the true GOAT of WW, and mostly the UFC. The guy never ducked a single person in his time at WW. These casual fans need to go back to WWE and follow Conor and his coke addiction on insta and let the real GOAT do his thing. If he can't maintain MW due to a SEVERE health condition then deal with it. Health conditions are not cope outs, they are life long decisions.

Actually, many claimed that he ducked Johny Hendricks when decided to fight Nick Diaz...

What the fuck post fight interview did you watch?

He danced around the question about staying at mw like he was auditioning for Dancing with the Stars

GSP had every intention of defending against Whittaker (a former WW) until he went back and looked at the fight tape against Bisping and saw what everyone else saw.

He did not look good in that win and Whittaker would feast on him.

GSP was at the first Nate/Conor fight. There were strong rumours that when Conor win like he was supposed to, GSP would challenge him

When questioned, Dana vehemently denied this...so it was 100% true

He kept saying he was "contractually obligated" he never said he wanted to or would
