Did you see their first fight?
glad gsp is back...thought bisping would run through him. bisping is the man and he passed on that torch to the rush.
Sorry, it's not. When Silva did it BJM flat out said it's legal.
No he wasn't, because the vaseline had no effect. No cheating happened. BJ was the inferior fighter that is why he lost. His magic guard did not save him in the first fight either.
Do you know WHY they put vaseline on a fighter? To help keep him from being held down or have any leg or arm locks applied. What is so hard to understand about this?
Good post. I think the fight with Penn and GSP would have been much more competitive if GSP wasn't greased and I'm not so sure he would have won. Penn was on point leading up to that fight but that whole incident seemed to "turn" him. The grease, also, definitely helped GSP in the striking department. Many, on here, don't understand but if you are successful with the takedowns, you can use that to set up strikes because your opponent doesn't know what's coming. If you takedown attempts don't work or you are afraid to take someone down for fear of getting submitted, you become one dimensional, like in their first fight.
I mentioned, in another post, that GSP should pull a Bisping and give Penn a rematch for the title. I doubt that happens but, you never know. As for falling out of his prime, both him and Fedor have suffered tremendously with that drop off but I believe it is because they are two "natural" fighters and have not used PEDs to help lengthen their careers like a lot of fighters have. They were that good that they didn't need to gain an edge or their pride in themselves and love for the sport kept them from "using". Without a little "help", you get the drop-off. Now, they seem to have become "recreational" fighters. They fight because it is in their blood but they know they are probably never going to be world-beaters again.
It was a horrible 'beat down' because of the grease. No grease and GSP becomes one dimensional which in their first fight was a 'pick-em' split decision. With the grease, GSP could charge at will without fear of being submitted or held down.
The first fight was all stand up because GSP didn't want to fully commit to takedowns for fear of Penn's Jiu Jitsu. So he got beat up on his feet. With the grease, it was a completely different story.
Yes. GSP barely surprised. I mentioned earlier that he looked like he got catapulted, face first, into a brick wall.
Yes I remember when BJ lost and tried to explain his loss by accusing GSP of breaking a rule that didn’t exist yet and taking him to a hearing to fight it out officially and losing again.
GSP stayed in the North like a coward. He let a cornerman take the fall. Have you noticed the massage - respiration technique being used by GSP since that fight? No, you haven't because it was a cover story for the vaseline.
Yes. To help keep them from being held down. Since GSP wanted to keep BJ down, it seems kind of crazy to use a substance that would make it hard to do that. It would be a lot like soaking wood in water before you try to use it as firewood.
Yes, and GSP was not the first to use it. So apparently you are a clueless moron. Multiple fighters have used that technique.
What about that fight when BJ was on his tippy toes
at the very least, post a gif of the incident. trolls used to put more effort.
ive got a jar of vaseline and some coarse grade sandpaper and a box of tissue and a date with x hamster..
Speculation, speculation and speculation.
Got any facts?
It's because of this thread that they are cancelling most of Sherdog radio.
Yes but in their second fight he found out just how easy it was to take BJ down, plus bj never really amounted to the hype of his deadly BJJ in MMA, as good as he really was, GSP would have taken him down at will in a third fight and if he worries so much about the BJJ then just get back up and take him down again mixing it up with his jab, BJ really has no answer for this.
And just being logical and realistic, grease will not help that much, really
I am trying not to question your knowledge of fighting but you are pushing it... He can shoot for the take down and stay on top of him, while posturing up for ground and pound without worrying about submissions.
