Silva was all wrong for GSP imho...he has significant height on him and knows how to use it perfectly. GSP was smart not to fight him, he was even a bit undersized for his own division.
 
GSP is a phony underwhelming champion but he had no obligation to move up to fight the GOAT

I think you mistake being afraid with having common sense.
GSP was the king at WW.
WHt the hell would he move up and fight a bigger man that was KO'ing fools left and right?
He protected his legacy, which is what he was always about.
That is why he rather decision than go for broke. It is who he was, and he was incredibly good at it.
You can't blame him for not risking his record just because YOU wanted him to do it.

It is the same thing as if you have a friend and go to a Casino with him and he hits the jackpot, and you want him to put it all on black on roulette, and gets mad when he refuses.

Now he will be back, and his hyatus will give him a break from previous "career", so it is like a clean slate. So he is ready to risk it.

Note: You are talking with a huge Spider fan, one that you can review my history (back on those years) and how much I discussed Anderson SIlva Versus GSP.
But I Just try to be fair. Those guys are people too, and they also have things they want to protect.
Be fair! Try to see it thought his eyes, and you will see plenty of reasons why.

Silva ducked GSP by never cutting to Welterweight.

For the record TS, Anderson avoided GSP like the plague right up until Shogun and then Jones took the LHW belt.

Prior to that Anderson was asking for only the top fights at MW and LHW and made sure it was known he had no interest in fighting GSP in almost every interview. Once he entered his legacy fight/retirement fight stage then and only then did he want to fight GSP because he said it would be an easier fight than Jones.

So ya Champs in legacy fight mode look for big value easier fights. SHOCK.

He made a million excuses and drops them all when Bispings champ.

Funny how all of a sudden GSP has the balls to fight at MW even though hes coming off a long ass layoff. yet couldnt in his prime lol wtf. GSP is one of the GOATS but its clear as day he ducked the spider.
