Do you think there is a degree in MUAYTHAI AMATEUR? Anyone know how they came about? Is it justifiable and its existence and why in Brazil have other graduation colors type?

See this muay thai event this year 2018 shown usor of graduate degree of muaythai in Thailand

The annual World Wai Kru Muay Thai ceremony has become a firm fixture on the calendars of Muay Thai fans all over the world, and also takes place to celebrate Nai Khanom Tom Day. This year is the event’s 14th edition, which is scheduled to take place on 16-17 March, 2018 in the atmospheric Ayutthaya Historical Park.

I don't understand the point of mongkols as a grading system tbh.

In my mind, the whole point of having is a rank is so that the coach knows where you are at and can pair you up with someone similar/show you techniques appropriate for your skill level.

At a good gym, the coach should know their students anyway so the whole grading system is moot. Even at a larger, more commercial gym, the use of a mongkol grading system is kind of dumb considering the coach isn't going to be able to see your mongkol during class. Also, there is the symbolic value of the mongkol etc. and I'm sure some Thais will find this use of it offensive...

maybe they'll actually train wearing the mongkol?

gym i trained at before used the prajiat but then switched to a colored shorts system. mongkol seems a bit much.

Never been a fan of colored rankings. This seems completely new to Thailand as I understand that was never a thing in the past unless it was in some US/Brazil McDojo.

Wait, so you just go up in rank based on how many months you've been training?

This looks like the same kind of bullshit that ruined Karate.

@Cocakillbana are you seeing this?

Do the examinations cost money? That's what they do in the McDojo's in the US.

This and the IFMA rule at WMF is 8 years

Grading in Muay thai is just a way to get retarded westerners usually to think they progress. Only belts that matters in muay thai is the ones u win in the ring. Also stay away from white guys calling themselves Kru or esp Arjan
