Glory 51 Rotterdam: Badr vs Hesdy II

The weight ins are done, tommorow fight time, what you guys think? Badr is 101.8kg, was 114kg for the Rico fight...

they both should had rematched when badr came back in 2011(and faced gregory tony) while Gerges had defeated Ghita at the same time,it would de a legit match with both on top(even with badr 1 year layoff due his love story with that millionare)

Its a good fight, haves history behind it but Gerges just came back of a quick brutal KO loss to brestovac,so it kills a lot of the upcoming fight.

On the other hand analyzing Hesdy last 4 fights(after the brestovac of course)

-Defeated Hron witch is a pretty good win,but it is diminished because Hron was a very late replacement

- Lost a good fight against Adegbuyi

-Got robbed against Guto(even being a shitty innactive fight he won hands down)

- On the Londt Fight Hesdy Clearly won the 1st round, lost the 2nd and had a close 3rd round,at the time i saw Gerges as the winner by rounds 1 and 3 but watched it again twice and i think he only won the 1st round,3rd was close but Londt made a bit more damage.

the ww tournament is decent, Doumbe vs Nabiev is amazing and Jaraya vs Miles Simson is a battle of who gasses first

Simson isnt bad,can take a lot of punishment and some good punch+low kicks combinations and throws the right high kick really well...

Jaraya usually starts go gasses hard after 1,5 rounds and i barely saw a fight that Miles simson isnt gassing hard on the third

if this Jaraya didnt win it by KO and the fight goes to the 3rd round,it is going to be funny, both are going to be half dead in it mark my words.
Didint know about Badrs layoff because of a love story, I knew it was because his emotional state in that period and kicking ground opponets so he take a break to Morroco...can you tell us more about that? or is too off topic? thanks

That's an insane amount of mass to lose for an athlete in little over a year's time. He's probably far less juicy than he used to be.

Or maybe this time he decided it's better to go clean like in the early days. Muscular Badr Hari was gassing quickly and he knows with Gerges it's almost a guaranteed long fight.

I don't see how that has anything to do with what I said. I'm literally saying myself he's probably off the juice. It's still a lot of weight to lose.

Agree with you man... 11 kg are not a little weight, but it's not that much either. Badr's natural weight used to be 97kg six seven years ago. And he looked in good shape at the weigh in.

He wanted to give Hesdy a handshake and Hesdy didn't even look at him. A bit akward, can't blame him hahaha

Yeah 24 pounds isn't really a whole lot for a man that's 6'6" or whatever he is. Hopefully he's like his old self being really fast and explosive.

My handicapping breakdown of the card:

Some very interesting fights on this card. In the main event I think that a very fit looking Badr Hari at 97 kg, his lightest weight in years, probably knocks out Hesdy Gerges early if he puts it on him. But the moneyline price around -400 is quite high to bet it, especially with how wild Badr is. Would be shocking if he got DQed again though like in their first fight eight years ago. I would love to take the under 2½ rounds near even on this, but the major sportsbooks like 5D, BM & Sportsbook.com only picked up the moneylines, not the over/unders that BetDSI apparently has, and I'm a little reluctant to deposit at BetDSI with the things I have read online lately.

In one of the two welterweight contender tournament fights I like Eyevan Danenberg to use his extreme height and length to most likely win a decision as a -175 favorite against French muay thai stylist and experienced kickboxer Jimmy Vienot in what I expect to be a fairly competitive bout. On the other side of the bracket I like Argentinian kickboxer Alan Scheinson to potentially get the upset as a +140 underdog over Thongchai Sitsongpeenong at +140. Thongchai was away for a year serving in the Thai military and comes back claiming to have lost quite a bit of weight (14 kg) in preparation for this bout while Scheinson has many more K-1 style kickboxing bouts compared to Thongchai's vast muay thai experience.

The featured bout of the SuperFight Series on Fight Pass has former welterweight champion Cedric Doumbe of France taking on surging Azerbaijani Alim Nabiev who is 2-0 in Glory coming off a big win over former welterweight champion Nieky Holzken. Nabiev (sometimes spelled Nabiyev) is very skilled and fairly aggressive plus he is a very large 77 kg fighter. He towered over Cedric at the weigh-in like he did against Nieky. So I like the value on Nabiev at +150 to get the upset again over another former Glory welterweight champion for my biggest bet of the card.

Taller featherweight kickboxer Massaro Glunder looks to rebound from three decision losses in Glory against French muay thai veteran Victor "Leo" Pinto. Glunder is the bigger man to begin with and he also missed weight slightly on the second attempt on the scale, which is to his advantage as the bigger man if he isn't too drained from the effort. Pinto explained in one of the Inside Glory videos that he normally would not accept the fight with a weight discrepancy, but he traveled a long way and had a lot of fans that came to see him, so they made a deal for him to take some of Glunder's purse to accept the bout. So with the size and psychological advantage I like Glunder as a -175 favorite.

In one of the other notable SFS bouts, young phenom Mohammed Jaraya makes his Glory debut with a fair amount of hype and a lot of controversy after attacking a judge after a previous fight in European kickboxing promotion Enfusion and getting suspended. He has a lot of stoppages, but he's fighting in Glory up at 77 kg after mostly competing at 70 kg or less previously. His opponent Miles Simson from Suriname with a lot of international fighting experience did not seem intimidated and has a significant size advantage, so there could be value on Simson as a +236 underdog in this tournament reserve bout if you have a book with that line.

I don't like the Badr at 101.8kg. :/.
Hope he still has the fire to KO Gerges.

Hope badr vs gerges lasts at least 2 full rounds. Really looking forward to this one.

I hope we see the original version of Badr, the ko machine that destroyed Leko,Aerts,Karaev,Schilt...he is only 33yo and if focused can change the heavyweught devision, make kickboxing great again.
Also what you guys say about the young Mohammed Jaraya, he had some explosive fights in Enfusion:

He moved up to 77kg(welter) so maybe more explosive power

The SFS starts in 1 hour and 30 mins right?

Think the timer was correct for me. Annoyingly every event the timer disappears a 2-3 hours before the event really starts. Also the event happening now disappears from the "next" event thingies and starts plugging the event after tonight.

Jaraya might find himself undersized at 77 kg against most opponents. Simson looked bigger than him at the weigh-in.
