Glory 44 Chicago: Doumbé, Groenhart, Abraham, Jacoby, van Soest, Moroșanu [25th August]

I shut that main event off in round 4. Terrible ugly fight.

Fun fact: The Pinto brothers dad used to post in this forum.

ESPN app wouldn't let me stream until 9pm Pacific time, but ended up being live so I only saw the last two fights of the event.

I don't care how boring or ugly a fight is, how could you watch four rounds of a close five round major title fight with two of the best in the weight class and randomly turn it off? I swear, some of you guys have some really exaggerated hyperbole, lol.

sometimes you just don't care.

I fell asleep during the main event too. not figuratively, literally fell asleep on the couch. it was late. only thing I recall is them boys flurring and stumbling all over the ring.

A bad fight is a bad fight.

I was disgusted. I had a friend watching with me and was embarrassed.

Ugly slop fest of a fight. I've seen tighter action in SuperKombat. I really don't think I'm exaggerating here. That fight doesn't represent the best in the sport.

I expect that kind of performance from Murthel, but Doumbe surprised me.

I almost got the ban because of him when the Challenger Muay Thai show was going on and he started to bad mouth fighters from Thailand he must've been spending too much time around Stephan Fox.

Moroșanu and Adegbuyi were robbed because Turynski and Inocente were huge underdogs. These shitty judges in the USA are betting.

Robbery of Moroșanu was the biggest ever. I need to take pills on this shock!

I seriously doubt that as there are no brick and mortar sportsbooks in Las Vegas, the only place that sports gambling is legal in the U.S., that offer betting on Glory kickboxing to my knowledge and only a couple of sportsbooks online that Americans can bet at- and even they have smallish limits, usually $500 on a Glory moneyline. Unless you bet the same line multiple times at worsening prices each time as they adjust it you wont get much on the side at good odds. And likewise for the Europeans at the couple of sportsbooks that offer lines on Glory. The limits kick in pretty fast. Turynski in particular wasn't even available to bet at any of the major sportsbooks, just one really obscure one with minuscule limits of a few dollars. Frankly, most Americans know very little about kickboxing anyway. I'm one of the few Americans I know with any interest in the sport at all, much less gambling on it. Adegbuyi simply lost his bout on the cards in a close fight and Morosanu had a sloppy fight with an awkward opponent with poor judging which is not too uncommon even in big UFC or boxing matches.

Finally found a pirated video of the mian event. I gave Doumbe every round except 3. Funny that leg kicks don't make much of a difference in this fight but they're all RvR needs to get a decision.

I don"t watch Glory anymore, Moroșanu and Doumbe were hugely robbed.

Anyone thinking that Holzken will be champ again, now that Murthel has the title?

Nieky has to get past Yoann Kongolo first, and that's not necessarily a guarantee, considering how competitive I thought that their first fight in Glory was. Even then, I don't think Nieky is necessarily next in line for a title shot with Harut Grigorian having just won the welterweight contender tournament and even a fighter like Marat Grigorian coming off two back to back KO/TKOs in the weight class. I wouldn't be shocked however if he gets pushed into another title shot if he has a good performance, especially a stoppage of Kongolo, because he's the former champion or because he's Dutch if there is any bias there. If Nieky does meet Murthel again, it will be real interesting to see how the bookmakers set the line at considering Nieky already beat Murthel in Glory twice.
