Theres a couple wide shots of the colliseum that look fake as hell
This is my first thought when i think of Gladiator.
I said 9. Crowe was in peak form and it was one of Joaquin Phoenix best roles to date.
There's is an interview with Phoenix where they asked him about playing Johhny Cash. He said he never got an ok from him but Cash met him at some event and told him he enjoyed him in Gladiator and said his delivery of the description of what the soldiers did to Maximus' wife was perfect. Said it made him feel like it was more or less a stamp of approval.
A good time , very quotable
9/10 for me, one of the best films of the 2000's
Classic. It's in my top 10 movies ever.
He'll be the butt (pun intended) of many jokes.
I went to watch the movie after hearing all the hype about it. Was a good movie by itself but pretty disappointing after getting hyped up.
And WTF was with Commodus challenging Maximus to a duel...
It’s a Roma 10 for me
Then he will have a good reason to grab some booty since his name is on it
9.5/10 for me. One of my favorite movies ever... Crowe is such a bad ass as Maximus.
If anyone hasnt seen the tv show 'rome' its good
I think it has aged pretty well.
Nearly perfect. One of the greats, holds up well still. Maybe I’ll go watch it...
Does'nt deserve 10 but gave it 10 as it's my fav movie by far
It's still an awesome movie. 10/10
Wasn't into the Brother/Sister romance.... Probably why i dont really watch Game of Thrones either.
Original Spartacus or Ben Hur for me.
I think Pheonix went a bit beyond delivering a few rousing lines and his Commodus would really be the main thing that takes it beyond a standard historical action film.
You could argue certainly its disappointing in one way as a film focused on Commodus and the decline of the empire after the 2nd century would probably have been a lot more interesting. I spose he's getting a bit old but I wouldn't mind seeing Phoenix play a role like Nero or Caligula in the future.
Eh it made sense in the film
Has some basis in reality as well, the actual Commodus fought in the games against animals to push his personality cult..
