What are people's thoughts on this? I've been aching for a more authentic samurai game since Bushido Blade(Kengo wasn't too bad either). Definitely needs a Japanese language option, though.

This along with Red Dead 2 is making me consider getting a PS4.

I am cautiously optimistic... I have seen games that looks great but play not so well... I like the blocking mechanics shown in the fighting, but I will wait and see how it actually works in the real game.

So like Dark Souls but with combat animations?

It's really pretty. I love the Soulsborne games, but damn do I suck at the parry/riposte mechanics across them. This game looks like they rely heavily on that, so I will probably suck pretty hard when I play them.

It looks good but I don’t trust anything from Sucker Punch. They don’t have the best history.

I hadn't even heard of it until last night so I'm pleasantly surprised. I still can't tell if that fight at the end was a cutscene or gameplay. I'm not crazy about the side view or cinematics during combat but maybe that scene wasn't indicative of the rest of the game.

Looks awesome, but I'm skeptical of a lot of these 'gameplay' videos at E3.

I'm the same way, my parrying skills suck. Even in GoW with probably more relaxed parrying, I was terrible.

Same here. I suck bad at these Souls games. I can usually clear the levels easily enough it's the bosses that tear me up.

You're in luck, they already confirmed there will be a Japanese audio option.

I'm very excited for this game, easily my favorite trailer from Sony's conference.

I loved the visuals and tone. I just hope it doesn't get supernatural. Just make a serious samurai game and I'm in. The combat did look a bit dull and clunky. It reminded me of PS2/PS3 era combat. Especially after seeing the level of detail and animation in Last of Us 2 before it.

Stawpt it. Every game that has a guy swinging a sword isnt "like Dark Souls."

Dark Souls has become its own genre so it's not surprising when people compare new games to it.

You have to admit the pace, perspective, and combat are pretty similar. Instead of the enemy just disintegrating or whatever there is a little kill animation. The only thing really different appears to be some very light stealth elements.

There is even a miniboss fight worked in at the end.

Maybe it's somewhere between Souls and Batman, but it didn't look like much comboing was going on.

Looks nothing like Souls to me. Shadows die twice is their samurai game which definitely has similarities... this one looks very different IMO.

So excited to have 2 badass looking games in this style to look forward to though.

Are you new to video games? The "perspective" is called third person. Bosses/minibosses are a common element of games. And every other attack was a combo. There was even a combo that ended in a throw.
