It really sucks that germans aren't allowed to be nationalistic or patriotic

i agree. it's incredibly unfair. i remember when the germans won the world cup in 2014 i believe. i was at a bar watching the game, and there were a bunch of germans watching. after the game was over, not one single german person clapped. it was almost like they didn't even care. now it could be that they were here in the u.s., so maybe they thought that celebrating would rekindle memories of world war 2. in germany, i know they were celebrating. i even congratulated a few of them and toasted with, "prost!" with simple thank you's in return. felt bad.
