I think the two of us are very much on the same page when it comes to muslim immigration. Ithink Merkel is an idiot for thinking that these muslims will intergrate when allowed in such large numbers. There will always be a significant portion of the population of any group that will only intergrate when there is no option and because of the size of the refugee population it will remain viable living completely within the community.

There are 2nd generation Chinese living where I live who don't speak english, when I found that out I realized that multiculturalism is simply a setup for long term social conflict.

Again, to the extent that multiculturalism consists of retaining some traditions from your native culture I don't have a problem with it. We shouldn't look down on others because their dress or food or whatever is unfamiliar if they're learning the language and adopting the broader social values of their new home. What you can't allow is such a critical mass of immigrants that they essentially turn pockets of your country into the shitholes they came from. I'd guess that due to the massive influx of so many refugees that Germany would have a hard time assimilating them even if they wanted to be assimilated, and I'm not convinced at all that they do.

I agree completely. Aspects of culture which don't run counter to the fundemental principles of the host nation are fine. But when a community starts segregating themselves specifcally because their own culture is completely incompatible on some level then that is significantly problematic. For example when muslim families start beating or even killing their daughters for dating non-muslims, which is a significant problem EVERYWHERE muslims go, then that is the type of cultural enrichment I can do without.

She specifically prefaced the bit with "now remember that Syria is a patriarchal society" and then spoke about how off put the father of the family was as he was being told what to do by a bunch of old ladies.
She then said that it was cute. What the fuck.
They make it sound like a fleeting sitcom moment complete with laughtrack, when in reality that guy is gonna be totally controlling of the females in his family.

Its weird how delusional some of these people. As someone who as lived at least a year on every continent, I have seen the way men in most cultures treat their women. Some idiot women there probably just earned a bunch of black eyes for the wives of those men because thats the way it works, shit roles down hill. It may be funny to antagonize them in public where they feel unable to do something about it but you can bet behind closed doors many of those men are going to take out their frustrations on their women and children becuase in their culture thats just what you do.

She's not wrong. And it's not contradictory to say that you need to help refugees for humanitarian reasons but that multiculturalism as defined as having disparate communities living side by side in a single nation has failed.

She was pretty clear on that. You need to help those in need. Not all of those coming were in need and therefore a lot of people shall be deported. Those who stay shall assimilate.

Whether that is realistic or not is a fair question, of course, but tbh there is no grave inconsistency to what she said or did before.
