FDP (free market) pulled out of coalition talks with Merkel's CDU and the Green Party after four weeks of negotiations. The Social Democrats are unwilling to form a coalition again. It looks like the only option is new elections.

Personally, I am not sure how I feel about the FDP pulling out. I voted for them but not to form a coalition with the Greens. Glad they pulled out because the Greens have become obsolete as a Party anyway. And shouldn't be in government in the first place.

I am not sure, but I think the CDU and FDP might have a shot at the government with new elections. Because Merkel will get a lot of those right-wing voter back because she has to move to the right to form a government. Now that she knows CDU-FDP-Green won't work and the Social democrats don't want. And the AFD have indeed shown their incompetence since the last election.

Finally some entertaining in German politics.

But they are irrelevant
lol they are one of the main reasons the big parties lost big time and now have to have complicated talks that are set to fail.
it could cost merkel her head in the process.

The NDP only got like 200,000 votes.
Are you maybe thinking about the AFD?

I'd imagine so.

That's why it's always a good idea to start with a condescending "lol".
Gives you a bit of room backpaddling when shown a lack of basic knowledge on the issue. :)

The AfD coming to get all your governments Germany.

I think new elections would be the last thing the AFD wants.
Because they have lost their most important figure, Frauke Petry. She quit one day after the election. And it wasn't pretty.
That woman was the moderate part of the AFD that was interested in getting the AFD ready to be able to be part of a government in a few years with concrete policies.

She is probably going to start her own Party. I can see myself voting for her Party if the actually presents policies.
But in a new election without Frauke Petry I think the AFD won't be able to stay at 12% because a lot of the moderate vote is gone.

And the AFD knows that as well.
Because a lot of their people in national parliament also kept seats in state parliaments because they are afraid in case of new elections they lose their seat in the national parliament.

Lol.Literally no one voted for the AfD because of Petry.
And yes. the AfD would be the major beneficiary from new elections.

Right because no one votes for the number one candidate of a Party.
Want to make a sig or AV bet? I am saying in case of new elections the AFD will do worse.

the green hats are acting so sad right now
it shows they were ready to throw everything out of their window just to get in power
shows their true colors

Wonder who they would run? Who could propel the AfD into 2nd place or even the chancellorship, and which parties would consider a possible coalition? Imagine an AfD Chancellor with an AfD majority backing...

Snake. can you do a breakdown of the major parties (ones with noting) and giving a brief breakdown of their stances?

Hard to follow without context.

They did run two other people already past election. Two lesser known people. But they did conspire against Petry so she lost the Party chair.
As a side note, they did that when Petry was 8 months pregnant. Not exactly a good look for the new leaders.

I guess they will run the two same people again. The reason why I think they will not do as well for a few reason.
First Petry left the Party the day after the election which caused a bit of a mudslinging match. And people voted for them out of protest.
I think if there is a second election they feel they have made their point clear and go back to the CDU or SPD.
I can also see Merkel moving more to the right due to the losses.

Petry wasnt the #1 Candidate, Weidel & Gauland were.
Petry was basically demoted to an also-spokesperson in April.

CDU/CSU-center right (going hard left since Markel runs the party)
SPD-Social Democrats-formerly a pro working class party, now in the hands of govt workers and public unions and other interest groups

FDP-Liberal Party-Pro Business/Open borders. They sold out their principles on the greece bailout, after which a lot of members became AfD members

Greens-Pretty much your standard left-wing SJW party.Pro Open Borders,All about gender politics.Though they sold out a lot of their ideals (anti-war,social services) in former coalitions and were about to (environmental regulations) in those recent coalition talks.

Die Linke-Socialist/Communist.Pseudo Marxists.Pretty much your standard european "run your own country into an economic ditch" socialist party.Spend money you dont have etc.

AfD-Nationalist/Conservative/Populist.Pretty much a mix of various right wing political philosophies.
Anti Eurozone (for a simple tarif-free economic zone, as the EU was originally founded on),less state regulations.A stricter immigration system.More and faster deportations. Its for the privatization of Germany's taxpayer-funded tv channels.Theres still a lot of things the party isnt decided on when it comes to the retirement or healthcare system.
