General MMA Discussion & Future Lines - March, 2017

kinda think the gastelum love is getting a bit out of hand. i like the dude. i bet him big several times and recognized his skills a couple years ago, dude is just an effective freakin fighter. good chin. great RNC if you let him do that. good cardio. etc. all that.

...but the two wins at MW and people are talking about him like a title contender.. i don't think so whatsoever. belfort is soooo beatable anymore and kennedy hadn't fought for a couple YEARS and even retired after the fight.

just think it's a bit much.

wth would he do to romero, jacare, etc...

any kind of + on kelvin to finish silva should have good value, silva is nowhere near active enough to steal a decision against kelvin really.
Silva would probably need a finish almost for sure. But i dont think its a foregone conclusion that he wont be able to

Agreed. I mean, Gastelum looked fantastic against Vitor but Anderson opened up at bigger + money than Vitor did. How does that make any sense?

Dana White was just on Conan O'Brien's late night talk show and when asked point blank if he thinks that the Conor/Floyd boxing match was going to happen he flatly said "Yes". And then also "That there's too much money on the line for it not to happen." Sounds like this circus may happen for real after all?
“It doesn’t make a lot of sense for my business, but I would never keep Conor from making that kind of money,” sa White och fortsatte:

“He obviously has a lot of opportunities right now. Tony Ferguson is out there, the Floyd Mayweather thing is out there, we’ll see how this thing plays out.”

“I do. I do think it’s going to happen,” sa White till Conan O’Brien. “I think it’s going to be a tough deal, there’s obviously a lot of egos involved in this deal and a lot of people so that always makes it tougher. On the flipside, there’s so much money involved, I just don’t see how it doesn’t happen.”

That fight will happen during 2017 +2000 bet looking good

i don't for a second think he'll be champ @ 185, i don't think 40+ silva will be much of an issue for him to get through however, and that's really why he's stayed at 185, because he can collect somewhat easy paydays meanwhile building his brand against very well known fighters who in their time where legends of the sport pretty much. after this i am 100% sure he will go back down to welterweight again.

Maybe i'm amongst the few but I def think Kelvin can be MW champ. Kid is so young and such a goddamn monster. All the top MWs are up there in age at this point. Give Kelvin just 1-2 years and hes a threat for that belt at MW or WW

I love Kelvin's game and I think he has the skillset to matchup with anyone, but I worry that the size difference will be too much to overcome if he was to face a monster like Rockhold for example. I absolutely think he can be champ at WW though, I hope to he decides to get the weight issue under control and drop back down in the near future.

I think he would beat Bisping, but not someone like Rockhold, Jacare or Romero. The size difference is just too big, so I don't see a reason for him not to go back down to 170.

lol @ not resigning Lorenz

These new owners have quickly gotten the UFC off to the worst year ever

I'm on Silva at +270 already from Sportsbook. Win win for the UFC here either way. Can build Gast up or Andy is back. Totally different animal here for Gast I think.

Dan kelly vs Derek Brunson lol.
Im going all in on Brunson. He is a potatohead but he shouldn't lose this one. Come on kelly can't win forever there has to be someone to stop him.

There isn't. I'll be more than happy to make more dog money on Dadbod GOAT

Nah he probably can't win the MW belt. But he's a legit top 10 MW, and would be a WW contender if he could figure out his weight issues. His boxing has improved a lot, oddly that's probably the part of his game that can make him elite. He has a terrific understanding of distance and his handspeed looks better than it ever has. He really looks fluid with almost everything he's doing in his standup.

But I actually think his grappling is a little overrated. Magny is a solid grappler, but he's not Maia (obviously, we saw that). And Neil outgrappled Kelvin not too long ago. At WW.

I think they are trying to choose Kelvin's opponents carefully. Seems like they'd love him to be a star, which makes sense.
