Hi,

I recently got a custom mouthguard form the dentist and there is a slight gap between my bottom teeth and the mouth guard when I bite down on it (a mm or two). Is this how it's supposed to be?

Thanks

I have two Gladiator mouth guards and both of them do not fit like that. When I close my mouth my back teeth are on the mouth guard. You may want to talk to your dentist about the fit.

if the gap is in between your front teeth its normal. There is a 3 to one ratio between the posterior and anterior teeth. for every 1mm of material you put in the rear of the mouth the front opens 3mm. Think of putting a pencil in the door a jam where the hinges are the part of the door with the knob will open several feet. same principle in the mouth.
