In this log, I'm gonna do whatever the fuck I wanna do in regards to lifting. If anyone wants to join in on the fun, start up a discussion. In here we can talk about banging 10's and other unreachable fantasies or just anything in general.

My lifting protocol will be following a powerbuilding routine (or hybrid training if you're into the Hulse) because I'm vain, I like big arms, and I'm vain. Unless the gains are flowing like the salmon of Capistrano, I'll probably change things up ever 2-3 months. I get easily bored, I'm not training for a sport, and there's no reason at my age to grind through a workout if it's not mentally stimulating.

Shit, I might do some P90X up in this bitch.

Routine: 2 days strength/power work, 3 days speed/hypertrophy work.

Goals:
1. Not get injured
2. Get stronger
3. Fat loss
4. Prepare myself for Tough Mudder, which is coming up in June.
5. Keep my wife satisfied

Stats:
Age - 38
Height - 6'1
Weight - 210

And so it begins...

AM - 15 minute bike ride at 60% in fasted state.
Food - 3 pieces of bacon and 3 whole eggs with bbq sauce

The rides will be anywhere from 15-30 minutes depending on how long I want to lay in bed before getting on the bike.

I toyed with the idea of putting some before pictures on here so I could visually note my progress. But since a bunch of dudes don't wanna see that shit enjoy this fine woman cosplaying Power Girl.

Stationary bike 20 seconds @ 100% - 10 seconds @ 5% for 4 minutes.

Yep, almost hurled. Been a long minute since I did any form of cardio, but in my kingdom we don't whine, we conquer.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah back in the gym....with some weak ass lifts.

Day 2

I missed two workouts. Apparently I have an anxiety disorder and have been having some attacks. I'll be seeing a doctor next Monday. If anyone has a problem such as this, I'd love to have some advice on how you dealt with it and so on.

Plus, my teeth are bothering me, which is attributing to the attacks. Gonna get those fixed soon too.

Squats (Speed work) 70% with 45-60 second rest between sets
178 x 6 x 3

Front Squats - 155 x 4, 145 x 5, 145 x 5 (apparently I BLOW at front squats *mean mug face insert here*)

Sumo Stiff Leg Deadlift - 255 x 8 x 3

Weighted Ab Rollouts - 3 x 10

-Finisher-
No finisher tonight. Rest intervals were generally short, usually no more than a minute per set. This led to some heavy breathing and hopefully the "afterburn" effect.

If that doesn't help anxiety nothing does. I'm positive she is saying "I want you to do me" :icon_lol:

Anxiety is one of those things I thought either wasn't as big a deal as people made it out to be or was like depression and could be fixed on its own. I was dead wrong about that. I'm not excited about the possibility of being put on meds, but that beats the attacks. They are not fun. I'm usually a chill guy who doesn't get bothered by anything so it was kind of a blindside.

Aside from the initial speed work, this was a straight up bodybuilding exercise. Come at me, sis.

Bench Press (speed work-60% of 205 with 45-60 second res)
135 x 6 x 3

Bench Press - 185 x 8 x 3

Push Throughs * - 40lb resistance band 3 x 10

Barbell Curls - 95 x 8 x 3

Hammer Curls - 50 x 8, 50 x 9

Incline Curls - 30 x 10, 30 x 8

DB Skullcrushers - 40 x 10 x 2, 40 x 8

Close Grip Bench - 165 x 8, 165 x 7**

Tricep Kickbacks - 25 x 15, 35 x 12***

*Push throughs are a variation of the chest fly. I took them from Jeff of Athlean X. It's a "pump" exercise so take it at face value.*

**Surprisingly, I hit failure. The sixth rep felt great and them bam, dick slapped.

***I was laughing as I did these. Haven't done kickbacks in years. Actually haven't done a workout like this in years. It was fun, and I still feel like I made progress.

*I had five in me, but my back did something weird, kinda like it's saying "I might fuck you up if I so choose" so I played it smart.*

I'm going to keep the powerbuilding routine for the month of January. After that, I'm either going to do 5/3/1 or Greyskull strength training two days a week and add Infinite Intensity to get my conditioning up. If I want to do well in Tough Mudder, I'm going to need to bump up my conditioning. Right now it's pulling a Jynx Maze and sucking good

*260 wasn't a heavy weight, but my back hitched on me and I didn't like the feeling. Inwardly my mind was like you better quit bitch, but the rest of me said fuck off. I'll try 260 again next week.*

**I've never done barbell lunges before, so I started out with a lighter weight. That'll get the bump next time.**

Ok, ok, I know Jessica isn't a zombie or a zombie hunter, but she's damn hot and no one is complaining here.

Deadlifts - (Speed work-65% of 360-1 minute rest) 235 x 6 x 3

Feet elevated Inverted Row - 8, 8, 9

Bucket Rows* - 100 x 8, 100 x 8, 100 x 8

Landmine Press - 60 x 8**, 55 x 8, 55 x 8

Side Lateral Raises - 30 x 10, 30 x 10, 30 x 8

Shrugs - 225 x 8, 225 x 10***

*Bucket rows: I filled two 5-gallon buckes with 45lbs of concrete apiece. Since I workout in my home gym, the dumbbell collection I have doesn't weigh enough for certain exercises, so I fill the buckets with plates and use them for dumbbell rows and farmer's carries. Range of motion is different, but they're still effective.*

**Hit failure on the 8th rep, so that wasn't good. Lowered by 5lbs**

***Strained a muscle in my neck, so shrugs go bye bye. It's not an important exercise, so I'm not worried about it. I'll sub in face pulls or something else for shoulder care***
