That's not how matchmaking usually works, even in UFC. There's no beef between Andrei and Shamil, Andrei lost his last fight while Shamil got a KO win, no call out etc. Just a quick example.

I think it is a winnable fight for Francis, but it depends which version of Ngannou shows up, the predator or the PoS...

Ngannou did way better against Overeem and Stipe than JDS did. Yes, losing a decision is way more impressive than getting kocked the fuck out in one round. JDS relies on durability too, his defense is awful and consist of backpedalling with little to no counters (see the Stipe fight). Forget about the statistics a bit and just analyze how they performed against two opponents they had in common. JDS wasn't able to hurt Overeem in 3 rounds.

This fight would benefit both fighters. The past prime fighter can prove he still has it against young competition, and the mentally shook fighter can prove he has recovered from his dominating defeat against the former champion.

It would have been a good fight pre-Lewis but what does JDS have to gain now? Ngannou is in the dog house and a win over him does not mean much right now. I also don't see this ending well for JDS. JDS is far more technical but he tends to get rocked in every single fight and my guess is that Ngannou has enough power to knock JDS out cold. Hopefully the fight won't happen just yet - if Ngannou can return with a good performance, then he's worthy of fighting JDS and JDS would benefit more if he ends up winning.

Give ngannou an easy run out next time. I dont think he will ever be 'elite-elite' i get the feeling that he underestimates the holes in his game, one of those 'i just need to do this next time and il win' rather than accepting that there are lot of areas to work on. Could be wrong, but thats the impression i get form him. Nonetheless, hes still capable of being a big ppv draw so they should ease him back in and give him a couple before giving him a vet like jds. Otherwise youre just going to trash a guy who could make a lot of money for the ufc.
