Forrest Griffin vs Dan Severn "Harder! Harder!"

Wasn't watching back in the Severn days but looking at his record 127 fights with 19 losses isn't too shabby

He’s been crushing cans since like 2000, and a lot of the fights are worked

always thought this fight was rigged or whatever. those knees Dan throws look perfunctory.

Lol he really is. I always hoped he'd go back up to the UFC just so we could see him get ktfo
he actually had a stint in WWE during the early part of the attitude era. crazy. dude was a charisma vacuum

Was weird how Forest kept on tapping on Dan and he would let up a bit, gotta admit.

The mustache of the beast has 4 career submissions.

Severn's career started off pretty crazy at UFC 4-5-UU95.

Then he settled into his grapple safe strategy and wasn't the most entertaining. If knees to a grounded opponent were legal, I think he'd be a little more entertaining. His schedule was insane though. He'd take a couple pro wrestling bouts one weekend, regional MMA fight the next weekend, an underground bout on an Indian reservation after that.

Well Forrest griffin mentioned on one of his podcasts that he just couldn't get up off the ground and so he was talking shit like your old and to hit harder and when dan hit him harder he tapped like ok props you hit me harder but who knows that's just his explanation

The outline of Dan's ballsack through his spandex shorts at 11:40 is a horrendous sight.

Wouldn’t that be his cup.?? Or was Dan to gad-damn macho to protect his balls from being imploded by a kick??

I’ve heard he had a handful of worked fights.. I also wouldn’t be surprised that if he was able to completely out-wrestle and dominate someone that he would throw half ass punches/knees.. Just to ride it out but make it appear he was trying to finish / push the fight.

That was pretty earlier in Forest career, wasn’t it his 1st fight?? Or did I make that up?? Regardless, Forests wrestling was nowhere near its level when he was in his prime ufc career and every then it was nothing special. I wouldn’t be surprised if Dan knew he could just take him down and hold him there. I feel like I remember an interview where Dan was saying he never like to be all that violent, hurt people, etc..

Dan's style makes him kind of like Maxie Rosenbloom. He doesn't knock anyone out, but he beats like 80% of his opponents off his sheer mastery of technique and patience. You might not like him, but he'd more than likely beat your favorite fighters, if they were to fight at an equal age. We all saw what happened to Fedor at 39. Dan fought into his 50's. You might not be able to appreciate his style, but respect what he's done in this sport.

a lot of virgin pencil necked pussies who have never fought in their lives talking shit about an old school guy like Dan.... This place has become something else...

With those balls being so prominent, Dan definitely wouldn't want to fight Gary Goodridge in Brazil under Vale Tudo rules.

He went the Travis Fulton route and fought in tiny orgs and shows to pad his record and make $$. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the fights weren't at county fairs, casinos or Indian reservations. So I take his post-2000 record with a grain of salt. And many believe a lot of those fights were works. I'm not sure if that's true or not.

Having said that, Dan started late (mid-30s in his first UFC appearance), so I can cut him some slack for taking the easy road in his 40s and even 50s.
