On January 27th,
News Channel 4 out of Oklahoma City
reported that Roshaun Jones had been arrested by police in Del City, OK and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. The crimes of which Jones has been accused happened inside a laundromat on January 23rd,
also according to News Channel 4.
Inside the laundromat Nekia Jackson, the establishment’s manager, was found dead due to gunshot wounds. Also shot and killed was a Russ Roberts, a customer at the laundromat. After reviewing surveillance video of the crime, Del City police officials stated that they believed the killer had attempted to rob Jackson at daybreak, before murdering her and Roberts, who had come to her aid.
U.S. Marshals and Midwest City Police assisted the Del City Police Department in performing surveillance on Jones over the weekend after he was identified as a possible suspect. After observing Jones at his apartment building, Del City PD arrested him at a traffic stop without incident.
Jackson’s father, Horace Jackson Jr., spoke to
News Channel 4 of his relief that Jones had been apprehended. “At least I know he’s in custody but she’ll never be replaced,” he said. “I just grieve for my family. Kids and grandkids. They’re suffering behind this. We’ve got to go and grow up real fast and deal with this grief.”
Jackson’s father also said that Jones sold bootlegged DVDs outside of the laundromat his daughter managed.
News Channel 4 states that Jones has a criminal history which includes felony convictions for a drug charge and a misdemeanor bogus check charge.
An Oklahoma County Criminal Courts search returned multiple results for Jones. In 2007 he plead guilty to charges of selling counterfeit DVDs, driving under the influence, and distribution of marijuana. In 2011 he was arrested under suspicion of domestic abuse against a pregnant woman, but that case was dismissed. In 2014 he was convicted of domestic abuse (assault and battery) and interference with an emergency telephone call.
According to
Sherdog, Jones is a bantamweight with a professional mixed martial arts (MMA) record of 2-6. On November 20th, 2015 Jones competed at
Bellator 146. During that event he lost to
Klayton Mai by guillotine choke in the first round. Jones last fought in November, 2016 for a promotion called Rine’s Karate. In that show’s main event, Jones lost to Jeremiah Castillo by armbar in the first round. It was the fourth submission loss in his career, his other two losses came via technical knockouts.
