Jesus, what the fuck is going on with DC? They have all these great characters and should be crushing it with their movies. I went from expecting Justice League and the other solo outings to be outstanding to now wondering if they'll even be mediocre. Hope they right the ship soon.
Even the most incompetent exec should have realized by now that they should just give the people in charge of the DCAU full reign over the live action cinematic universe.

How anybody can turn gold into shit so consistently boggles the mind.

So true. I watched Flashpoint Paradox and Doomsday the other day and was thinking, literally all they have to do is put real actors in and they're done. Solid flick.

Wonder Woman looks decent ,so far, but they've still got time to ruin it.

The DC cartoons are great.... why are they having such a hard time with an actual movie?

New Line, Fox, DC, Fox

I know, but still. He's being brought up as in contention for a new Green Lantern movie, while filming the new deadpool (and possibly cameo-ing in other x-men movies). Seems strange Ezra can not sign one comic. He acted as a champ though, not as a douche, i'll give him that.

Matthew Vaughn, Robert Zemeckis, Sam Raimi Frontrunners to Direct THE FLASH

CSCrI81.png

Warner Bros.’s big-screen take on The Flash has narrowed down it's search to three directors: Matthew Vaughn, Robert Zemeckis and Sam Raimi have all met in recent weeks and are each strong contenders for the gig.

The trio of directors emerge as Warners is in the final throes of its search for a filmmaker to tackle the Scarlet Speedster after losing Rick Famuyiwa, who made Sundance sensation Dope, in October 2016 over "creative differences.”

Those differences emerged even as casting was ramping up and his departure put Flash on the skids, temporarily shelving production and a release date.

Famuyiwa was the second departure after Seth Grahame-Smith, who had written the script and was slated to make his directorial debut.

The recent search for a Flash director was a closely guarded affair and each of the names rose and fell on studio's heat index even as each had challenges, schedule or otherwise, to overcome. Even Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were re-considered to possibly return to a project for which they wrote a treatment years ago.

The current frontrunner appears to be Back to the Future and Forrest Gump director Zemeckis. He is now focused on a new project, an untitled drama that will star Steve Carell and that will shoot this fall and that appeared to sideline him from the gig. But now some sources say that Warners is willing to wait for him. Zemeckis last directed Brad Pitt in the WWII spy drama Allied.

Jon Berg and Geoff Johns are producing Flash, which is working with a new draft by Joby Harold, writer on the studio’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.

Vaughn, the filmmaker already deeply experienced in comic book movies with films such as X-Men: First Class and Kingsman: The Secret Service andcounts Kick-Ass in his comic book movie repertoire, is readying his latest film, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, for a Sept. 22 release.

Raimi spent the better part of the 2000s working on Columbia's Spider-Man trilogy, which starred Maguire as the Marvel Comics hero along with Kirsten Dunst and James Franco. The second movie, which featured Alfred Molina as villain Dr. Octopus, is considered a landmark in the comic book movie form. The trilogy grossed almost $2.7 billion dollars. The last movie Raimi directed was Oz the Great and Powerful, the 2013 Disney movie that acted as a prequel to Wizard of Oz.

Damn, hadn't realized Sam Raimi hasn't directed anything since 2013.

I used to feel sorry for DC. BvS was a disappointment, but didn't deserve all the hate it got.

But using an entirely different cast for the Flash movie when the cast of the series has been killing it season after season? Fuck you, DC. Enjoy watching Marvel pull even further ahead of you in live action movies.

Brethren!! At the very least they coulda gave Grant a shot. Don't even need to bring the whole cast.

@Dragonlordxxxxx out of those three directors, I would prefer Matthew Vaughn.

Matthew Vaughn is my favorite director for the past couple of years. He's one of the few directors that hasn't had a misfire in his last few movies. He'd be terrific in this but I want him to direct a Marvel comic book movie that heavily involves hand-to-hand combat.

Warner Bros. Announces THE FLASH Movie is Now Titled FLASHPOINT

z8WgJrB.jpg

The announcement that Warner Bros' solo Flash movie will, apparently, be called Flashpoint (or perhaps Flash: Flashpoint, it's unclear) during the studio's San Diego Comic-Con presentation Saturday morning was a surprise on multiple fronts. For one thing, just the fact that the movie isn't called The Flash might seem unusual, until you remember that it's in the WB's best interests to find some way of differentiating the movie from the TV show of the same name (despite the fact that both feature versions of the same character).

However, Flashpoint isn't a title with no resonance for the Flash as a character; it's the name of a five-issue 2011 comic book series that was later adapted (in concept only) as the plot engine for the first half of the third season of the CW series — the idea that DC's Fastest Man Alive would use his powers to go back in time to save the life of his mother, only to wreck the timeline as a result.

In the TV version of the plot, things were (mostly) returned to normal within an hour, albeit with specific aftershocks that drove future episodes. In the comic book story, however — written by Geoff Johns, who not coincidentally is now in charge of DC's movie output — things are far more complicated: The "Flashpoint" universe rewrites the larger DC Universe in a way that creates alternate versions of Batman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Superman and Green Lantern…all of whom exist within the DC movieverse, and are primed for an alternate take that could put a spotlight on the (unchanged) Flash in a way that few other storylines could follow.

Such a movie wouldn't just allow for actors like Jason Momoa and Gal Gadot to play against their established DC roles (The Flashpoint Wonder Woman and Aquaman are essentially at war with humanity in their own ways, and far more violent characters), if it followed the course of the comic storyline, it would allow Jeffrey Dean Morgan to return as Bruce Wayne's father, Thomas — a character who, in Flashpoint's timeline, becomes the Batman when his son is murdered by a mugger in an alleyway.

John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein Are the New Directors for FLASHPOINT

John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are staying in the superhero game. The screenwriting duo behind Sony and Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming are moving over to DC and are in talks to direct Warner Bros. Flash: Flashpoint movie, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Variety reports that Warner Bros. had initially courted Ben Affleck to return to the director’s chair for Flashpoint, but he passed on the gig.

The film will star Ezra Miller reprising his role from Justice League. The film has previously had two other directors attached. Dope filmmaker Rick Famuyiwa in October 2016 over "creative differences.” His exit followed that of Seth Grahame-Smith, who had written the script and was attached to direct.

Daley and Goldstein were largely known for penning comedies such as Horrible Bosses and 2015's Vacation before writing last year's Spider-Man, which earned more than $880 million worldwide.

No date has been set for Flash, but Warners' next DC movie to hit theaters is Jason Momoa's Aquaman in December, followed by Shazam! in April 2019. The studio recently tapped exec Walter Hamada to spearhead its DC films.

Still think it's dumb to jump to flashpoint, but it could make sense of Jake Gyllenhaal as Batman rather than just ignore the change of actor and carry on (which is also fine).

meh on them as directors but movies they have written have been good more than bad.

Holy Shit I had no Idea that Sweets from Bones was a writer on Spiderman Homecoming.

I liked his writing there however still think Flashpoint is a mistake unless it is used to reset the Failure that is the DCEU.

They just need to cut the cord and be done with him , he wasn't terrible as Batman buy between BvS and Justice League it felt like 2 completely different versions.
