For example off the top of my head Arlovski and Franklin both have steel/metal plates screwed directly into the bones in the hand. As paige VanZAnt just got a rod put into her arm. Why are solid implants in arms, legs, knees and plates in a fighters head ok to compete with? I don't know what kind of difference it may or may not make which is why I ask the Sherdog world

...is it an advantage at all? If it is how do they allow it.

Arlovski gets KO'd most fights nowadays....I don't think the plate helps.

They should be dipping their gloves in broken glass right before the fight like real men.

it wont add any offensive ability to the fighter- it will presumably just prevent a bone break. of course that in itself may be an advantage.

I think they remove the metal stuff after a while. It's just there to help you heal properly.

I also think that it would be more of a disadvantage for the carrier since it would smash your bones first.

yes and no. the plate or screw or whatever will prevent the same injury from happening again but if enough force occurs something is going to break. the next joint or bone or ligament. i read a fascinating study that when basketball players wore chuck taylors they often dealt with ankle sprains. better sneakers reduced ankle injuries and knee injuries increased.

Your bones do bend a little when landing a kick or a punch so I'd imagine without that little bend the impact might be slightly greater but not significant but I'm just guessing

That shit isn't adamantium, no one has ever destroyed their body to the point of needing metal plates/screws and been better off for it.
