I remember I loved Fight Night Round 3 when it came out and played the shit out of it. That was in like 2006, maybe? The mechanics fit amazingly well for boxing, and when they use it in EA MMA I thought it worked incredibly well too.

could do a rehash of the all time greats, but that's been played to death. Probably best off doing a purely fictitious boxing game which is a sad comment.

Sad comment, but maybe not a bad idea. You could do an entire series based on made up cartoon characters or something.
