GSP was KO'ed by a Lightweight, Matt Serra.

Anderson Silva was subbed by lightweights.

Conor was subbed by a flyweight.

TRT Hendo hit like a truck. He is a legend and a better fighter than Serra.

Lol. Just wait until we see the end of the careers of guys like Stipe and Jones. One day they will decline and lose embarassingly like Cain, Fedor, Nog, JDS. Everyone declines at some point. Fedor went 10 years undefeated and had 40 fights while Cain only had like 16 fights in like 8 years.

Nobody tested back then. Where else was he supposed to fight?

He was #1 for 7 years and started slowing down at the end of his 30 fight win streak. It was only a matter of time before he finally lost. Same thing happened with JDS and Cain. They were once great but declined and started losing.

Who else was he supposed to fight on NYE that night? He had already beaten almost everyone. He beat Cro Cop only 4 months prior in a huge super fight.

Imagine if in a few months Stipe was going to fight a 6"7 and 400 pound dude that was 7-0. Even if the 7 wins were nothing to write home about, it would still be exciting to see the HW champ take on a massive giant only a few months after the biggest title fight ever. Fedor didn't need to take the risk of that extra fight. He could have waited for the next true contender but he loved to fight for the fans on NYE and I am sure he made big money from that extra fight.

Fedor still beat twice as many ranked fighters as Stipe. Stipe has catching up to do when it comes to ranked wins

RINGS rules favored going for the finish.

Fedor was attacking and threatening with more while Arona didn't do shit.

Well they definitley wanted mirko to win. Even Fedor said it. The hype video was like 90% pro mirko. Every time they tried to put mirko and fedor together, mirko would lose...nog..
Randleman...while fedor (literally god) kept on rackin up w's like it was the thing to do.

It's kinda funny.... Fedor for Pride was kind of like Stipe for the UFC. They don't really want to promote them despite how badass they are just because they're humble and boring outside the cage.

The idea that they wanted to "fix" fights so he could win would be like the UFC fixing Stipe vs Ngannou for Stipe to win.... complete nonsense.

Yeah for some reason he sucks in a cage, when he went back to the ring he looked great again and went on a nice winning streak after getting stomped in Strikeforce. There must be something about the cage that hinders his game, or maybe it's just a psychological thing. It's not just a case of better or worse competition, because in the cage he also gets smacked around by cans while in the ring he still owns them.

The doctor stoppage was fine. The dumb part is they decided to give TK a win via illegal elbow.

Yes, I'm aware it was a tournament and they needed someone to advance, but they could have done it a NC and still let TK advance.
Even Royce got his "loss" against Harold howard erased from his resume.

Mostly just down to age, Crocop I can see the cage being a less ideal environment but I don't think Fedor's style was unsuited to it so much as he was a lesser fighter by the time he fought in it.

Wtf is up with people misspelling words in their titles around here?

And then you guys always go on to not misspell a single word in your actual OP. JUST the title. I don't get it but it's stupid.

Can’t believe it hasn’t been mentioned, but giving up physical size in a cage versus the ring has significant disadvantages that aren’t present in a ring format... besides as mentioned starting to lose at the age of mid-30’s and around his 34th pro fight not to mention Sambo competition might suggest a physical decline, who’d think...?

Fedor detractors are getting as bad as the McGregor witch hunt gang.

It's mainly his irrational, cringe inducing fanboys bringing out the hate in all reasonable thinking MMA fans. Fedor is cool, just not the end all be all of MMA. Probably the most overrated fighter in the history of the sport.

He went back to fighting cans that had no business being in the ring with him after getting stomped in strikeforce. Easy to look good when you're crushing cans. As soon as he's thrown in there with even a journeyman level fighter we see things like the Maldonado fight.

He does have a pretty good record against washed up old former UFC champs, though. So he'll probably beat Frank Mir. Then we'll get to see him lose to Sonnen :D

He was young when he fought in a ring, and old when he fought in a cage

he was tested against sylvia, arlovski and barnett tho (the latter failed and famously ruined the event)
