Jesus. Almost looking like Roy Nelson. Really hope he’s gets in better shape before the Mir fight. Don’t tarnish your legacy any further...

Emelianenko's in the Sugar Ray Robinson twilight of his career. It's all about the bucks at this point. If he cared about legacy, he would've clued up after the Maldonado fight and retired again. But my guess is that when he did retire a few years ago, he returned to regular life and realized making $1mm+ a year in MMA was more lucrative than whatever he was doing at the Russian Ministry of Sport.

don't wanna be all negative but cruel reality is that in 40+ years if you do not possess yoel-romero-level genetics you can't become significantly better without peds. so at this point fight experience and God's will is our only hope.

Except SRR was forced to continue because the IRS took his money. Fedor could make more than enough money outside the cage im sure. He probably still competes because he loves to, just like crocop.

What a joke of a tournament! Welterweights and lightweights mixed in with washed up heavyweights. Several UFC re-treads.

Does losing one fight mean you didn't win another?

No it doesn't but people truly think differently of Penn now than they did 5 years ago. Crapping your record out to 16-12 did some things to people's memories. If he would have just quit after that Hughes beat down people would still consider him one of the best to do it but they don't now.

There’s nothing he can do to tarnish his legacy.

He’s not like Cro-Cop who went from OWGP champ to can overnight upon entering the Western Hemisphere.

I’d love to think this but it’s not true. I’m a huge Fedor fan but you can’t dismiss the end of his career. Nothing will erase his nearly 10 year run but his legacy and reputation is on the line if he continues to fight.

As a previous poster mentioned, BJ Penn was considered one of the GOATs and he has went and lost so much at the end of his career, he’s really hurt his legacy.

I still think Fedor is the GOAT but he’s very close to losing that claim if he hasn’t already to GSP. You have to know when to stop.

Yea, sadly he looks fat and out of shape.

Maybe he took time off since the last loss by KO.

Either way its not a good look.

Next to injuries, it just proves that american rules are not good for his style.

You have Mitrione interview at Helwani in the lastest MMA Hour where Matt cries about how he will never again accept the fight in smaller cage and how much that neutralize his movement as his strongest side and competitive edge over other HW's, and how he lost to Nelson in the first fight because he could not dodge and evade in smaller cage that UFC used for that event.

For some fighters and their style ring / cage difference and rules make big difference.

Of course Cro Cop can't be sucessful in clinching on the fence with much bigger guys and he can't kick them in much biger and wider space where they can circle around and take step back at every sign of his attack and use movement and reach for distance management.

Cro Cop and Wanderlei are examples of fighters whose style is much better for ring and japan rules, Fedor is also better in the ring.

But to be honest, complaining about the environment is one step closer to a diva attitude that I think should be discouraged. If you're a fighter, it would behoove you to be able to adapt to your surroundings (especially since evidently MMA doesn't have the standardization of having the same competing environment everywhere).

It's going to get real ridiculous if MMA becomes like boxing where fighters will need to have long negotiations about the size and fabric of gloves prior to each fight.

MEATHEAD VS SONNEN would be such a fun fight... i hope that some how goes down

Big Country vs Rampage also would be such a sick fucking match up

oh and yeah The Last Emperor is fat as fuuuuuuuhck

Cro Cop improved dramatically in his clinch game but very late in his career. Not to mention the guy has been fighting at a very high level for over 20 years lol

That "can" beat King Mo and Amir Aliakbari within 2-days of each other at age 43 and is on a 7-fight win streak. Like to see you fight over 20 years, you're bound to have ups and down with injuries, etc. I'm not sure Fedor would even beat King Mo at this stage of his career and I like Fedor

FEDOR doesnt stay in fight shape at all......he has more busy schedule then anyone in the tourney.

Like all of his last couple fights he does cardio and basic technique training while traveling around, then as fight time narrows in he starts his strength and conditioning and increases sparring.

He will be in shape come april....
