First time posting in the War Room. Been lurking for a while. Great discussion here.

One thing that i was curious about however is the talk that World War 3 is inevitable. I have a few questions though on the subject.

1) Isn't' it clear that Nuclear Weapons are essentially what has kept us from another World War since the second one ended in 1945.? The major countries on this planet are aware of the devastation of a nuclear bomb and it seems like thats basically whats kept the United States from going to war with Russia and China. Without nuclear weapons i have no doubt there would have been some sort of major conflict with one of those two countries a long time ago and not just proxy wars.

Sure there is a possibility that a place like North Korea maybe sets off a nuclear bomb, but if they did and it his the US, or the UK, i imagine NK would get wiped off the face of the planet rather swiftly. and i dont see why Russia or China would come to their aid in an event like that especially China, who I imagine would rather just let Kim Jun Un get taken out and focus more on the North Korean refugees that would try to flee.

I think the threat of nuclear weapons is actually a HUGE deterrence for not starting another World War.

2) Russia and China don't have much to gain from another World War.

First of all why would China want to fight the U.S.? The two countries are very interconnected, both economies pretty much rely on each other. The last thing China wants is for North Korea to start something, hell China basically uses North Korea as a dumping ground, as it is basically there only trade partner since no one else will sell anything to the DPRK. No I think they would much prefer being allies with the U.S., and continue to build their economy as well as advance their technology, and trade with the U.S.'s help.

In terms of Russia, people seem to believe that Syria is this major concern for both the Russians, and Americans but to be blunt, its not. Sure there are ideological differences between the Americans and Russians on how its being handled but in my opinion, the war in Syria represents little in the way of major change or development for ANY of the world powers on this planet. Its more about protecting each countries interests than anything else.

The US and Russia dont want to come to blows. Despite the missile strike on Syria, the United States despite all this talk about wanting to remove Assad, has not attacked him directly. Why? Because they don't want to start something with Russia.

On the flip side Russia and Assad have made no attempt at attacking U.S. forces either. Sure they have attacked U.S. backed rebels. But they have to. Its a civil war after all. But when push has come to shove the U.S. and Russia have gone to great lengths not to strike one another in any way shape or form, and i see that as an indication that they really don't want to fight. I'm sure Putin knows that his military would lose to the U.S.'s.

I dunno that's just kinda my two cents on the whole matter.

Proxy war has been the go to for countries testing each other's might over the past 60 years. But what happens once we run out of viable proxies?

The juice and the US want Assad out to weaken Russian influence over oil prices, for completion of the Turkey-Qatar pipeline, and because Syria does not bank with the Rothschilds.

Its a big big world bra, Africa will be ripe for some serious scheming.

The main thing preventing the outbreak of global war is that the % of soft mother fuckers is higher than ever before globally. Everyone is benefiting from the Pax Americana, not just Americans.

Additionally, people are not as dumb as they used to be so there isn't fervent support for governments anymore so it'll be difficult to lead hundreds of millions to slaughter.

The incentive, willpower, and ability is lacking from the civilian populations of the major powers.

MAD for one -- any world war runs the risk of unleashing intense weaponry; of which, has increased in yield, precision and delivery techniques 100 fold since their last usage.

And, whether people like to admit it or not - a more globally connected world. People originally from one land have far more connection to others as well a business and monetary interests. No sense in destroying a machine that is make top powers, and auxiliary powers money.

Is it even possible to run out of viable proxies? The middle east is full of them!

you are from Oakland so if WW3 happens you won't notice much of a change.

I pretty much agree with your points. I got reminded of this topic, because yesterday I was talking to a close person of mine and one of the things we discussed were politics. He was talking to me how he thinks that Hillary Clinton as a president could've started some ww3 worldwide nuclear armageddon. What do you think?

I think this is pretty ridiculous and you already touched on most of the points. Don't get me wrong, I do think she's an evil bitch and would've most likely stir some more mess in Syria and the Middle East. But get the fuck outta here with this paranoid crap about mass nuclear annihilation. No one wins in a situation like this and I don't buy this bullshit that a president can just nuke somebody, because he feels like it. Decisions like this probably go through different levels before authorization, they won't let some lunatic fuck shit up on a worldwide scale. It's not that simple I think.

I don't see how it's inevitable. It benefits nobody.

Point 1 is spot on. Only reason we haven't warred with Russia or China is nukes.

I think we, the Russians and China have technology that hasn't been seen yet.

Maybe not nuke stoppers yet, but when any of us get them it's on like donkey kong.

China is tricky. Their culture is all about dominance. Right now they're doing it financially. I don't think they'll be content with that.

In terms of war, it would be China before Russia.

The idea of depending on mutually assured destruction as the deterrent from another global war is, somewhat fittingly, quite mad.

Pax Americana has kept us from war on that scale, as has the interconnectedness of the world.
I have a weird suspicion that each will be a factor of significant contribution if WW3 does break out.

America is only major power that wants war.

You are fucking crazy and buying western propaganda for to think China or Russia want war with USA or to rule the world. They just want their corner of world and autonomy. People say ooooh soviets invaded Afghanistan yeah they did in order to keep up a secular socialist government and Your president Reagan thought it be cool to promote the Talibán and Islamic supremacists!

American government cries about a law outlawing gay propaganda but no criminalising gay or hurting them and America liars in media go ballistic. But yet they not criticise their other allied countries who not have gany marriage or countries were gay illegal or mean death penalty. USA is built on select outrage
