Throughout Fedor's 41 fight career he only beat 5 different fighters ranked in the top 5 at HW. That's if you include Herring as well. The wins are Herring, CroCop, Nog, Sylvia and Arlovski. Those will say others were top 5 but here were some of his other notable wins and their rankings.

Coleman was ranked #10
Hunt was ranked #7
Randleman wasn't ranked at HW
Goodridge was ranked #6
Lindland wasn't ranked at HW

Fedor, Nog and Mirko took 3 of the top 5 HWs for like half a decade. Then you usually had whoever was UFC HW champ. There wasnt a lot of movement at the top end of the division.

And Randleman 100% would have been ranked top 5 after the Mirko win, but rankings were far and few in between back then. Randleman fought Fedor just a month after he beat Mirko.

Why do ppl feel the need to go out of their way to discredit this man's legacy

But he wasn't. Even if he was that is still only 6 top 5 guys in 40 fights.

I'll never understand why people care so much for rankings that are just made by other fans and shills, especially when they often trash how dumb and nonsensical a lot of the rankings are.

Fedor beat many of the greatest HWs ever and went undefeated in one of the most unpredictable divisions for a decade. That's what matters

Trying to make an unbiased rational discussion about rankings of 15 years ago it's impossible and doesn't even make sense.

Guys like Arona, Babalu and even Bobby Hoffman, the guy that supposedly didn't want to fight Fedor, were some of the best fighters in Rings, point is, mma was a fringe sport back in the day, and fighters were tough guys with little skills.
So, Fedor fought some of the best fighters of his time and was the best guy from that bunch, but compared to the competition that guys have to face today it's like comparing apples to oranges.

I think it's tough for newer fans to understand the aura and mystique that was Fedor. He fought everybody they put in front of him and he was brutal and methodical. He made some amazing comebacks and most of the time he found a way to finish the fight. HW fights were often 2 massive guys swinging for the fences and then gassing, but Fedor brought a much more elegant style to what was becoming MMA. He was exciting to watch with his calm demeanor and his vicious offense... almost like a walking contradiction.

Anyway, he beat the best of the best at the time and will always be one of the best. I have no issue with calling someone else the GOAT, but Fedor is certainly near the top of that very short list.

There are no news feeds up your ass? There must be some way to let your head know how many of his contemporaries were still ruling the UFC HW division just a few years ago.

You mean Werdum?
Werdum got so much better compared to 10 years ago it's not even comparable.

Same thing with Overeem and Hunt.

Keep going. There are more names to add to that list.
