But... but.... but.... he had more "knockdowns" than Silva....

Rules and Regulations. Unified Rules and Other MMA Regulations. 1. .... Effective striking

Seems pretty clear who won the effective striking criterion.

    Nah.

I usually agree with most of your posts bro, but Silva stood back for a good portion of that fight and was inactive.

He got slightly out-hustled in the end, and that's why he lost.

Mike got the slight edge via volume and being the BUSIER fighter overall.

Silva is just a LEGEND, the chuckle when the decision was made was hilarious.

Ahh the forever dilemma of the winning fighter's fucked up face. It's hard not to want to call it out when your fighter loses.

I hear what you´re saying, but being busier (meaning agressiveness) is a criterion that should only be used in case the other criteria fail to determine the winner.

I agree with both of you.

    Anderson did more damage.

Bisping outworked him with volume and activity.

    It was a close fight

    Yes.

Kung Fu bb is NOT wrong in that Anderson did WAY more damage and had the more effective striking. He just didn't do enough to win in the end, based on activity. MMA is funny in that way sometimes. heh

Silva is a goof sometimes. He loses fights he shoulda won with clowning. Can't really respect that.

Agree with everything this man said. It was pretty clear that Bisping stole 3 rounds while silva coasted/ pot shotted.

' Anderson lost as per the most fair rules. Those were Pride rules. Look at the fight as a whole. And I am not the biggest Bisping fan, he earned his keep by being in the game the longest while never asking for anything. I can respect that. Now it is his time to mouth off seeking the money fight. Regardless, Bisping will be a hall of famer soon, and rightfully so. He is the old UFC. You need to learn your past to understand the possibilities of the future. '

silva lost but it was a close fight.

it's funny how silva fans keep trying to find a way to spin things. hell even the weidman fight where he got completely dominated, his fans would still come up with excuses for the guy. i mean come on man

Dominated? Silva practically knocked himself out in Weedman 1. In Weedman 2 he did.

    Indeed.

Generally there are very few cases where you can actually make a relevant conclusion regarding the correctness of a decision just based on looking at the superficial damage visible. GSP's post-Hendricks face is a good example of superficial damage that's completely irrelevant in terms of judging the actual fight, yet it's often posted as 'proof' that GSP, in fact, lost the fight, when all that truly mattered was the scoring of R1.

Then there are more acceptable cases where the level of post-fight superficial damage corresponds with the actual amount of punishment absorbed, like, say, Mousasi vs Jardine. In that particular case, Jardine's post-fight face told the actual story of the fight, and provided reasoning for why Jardine's time on top should've actually been scored for Mousasi, who was in complete control and dealing significant enough offense off of his back to cause this:

Ps. I'm aware that Mousasi had a point taken away in that fight, but I didn't score the fight a draw despite of that, not even close.

    Think about this tho:

Hypothetically, if Canelo Alvarez had knocked down Floyd Mayweather in R1 with a thunderous uppercut, but that was the only punched he landed,

and Floyd responded with 100 baby pillow punches for the remaining 35 minutes of the fight, wouldn't Mayweather win that fight?

The point is, it's POSSIBLE to win a fight with less effective offense by virtue of volume alone.
