Noticed that. He’s like the FW Travis Browne.

ortega's chokes are no joke, edgar could easily shoot into a guillotine if he's not careful. i think he can also hold his own on the feet.

    ortega's not even a prospect, he's a contender.

No one has finished Frankie before and I highly doubt Ortega is the one to do it.

    Truth

Ortega is a guy who needs finishes to win fighting a guy who is borderline unfinishable and he only has 15 minutes to do it

Frankie is taking this 30-27 and another contender gets knocked off

They should have thrown Elkins in there not Ortega, people are actually interested in Ortega, no one wants to see Elkins get a title shot. They'd be better off long term letting Frankie knock off Elkins instead

No. He's won every fight but he has never won a round

legit amazing tbh but a terrible style matchup with Frankie

You completely missed the point he was making. He's not comparing Faber to Edgar. No one in their right mind would. He's simply saying a young prospect defeating a veteran could be a possibility like Faber vs Rivera. That's all. I expect Edgar to win BUT let's not act as if Ortega can't get the W.

I just don’t think Frankie can handle Ortega at all.

That's why I love Frankie. No one thought he was going to beat Sherk and he did. No one thought Frankie was going to beat BJ Penn and he did, twice. Cub was on his tear and people thought he was going to blitz through Frankie as well. Age catches up to everyone but I believe Frankie is one of the rare occasions where he can fight into his 40's and remain competitive.

im just so excited for this fight, its a bit of a bummer it will be a 3 rounder and happened now, i really wanted both frankie and ortega to have fought for the belt in their next fights, respectively.

but i been on ortegas hype train since his first fight and seeing him evolve from his first fight till now is something special. his striking as come a long way, he has an amazing chin and his ground game is second to none in the division. his finishes have been pulled out of no where at times and what he is capable of is unreal.

Will Frankie cry after losing another UD only he thinks he won?

Basically nobody has a chance against Frankie unless they are great fighters and ALSO way bigger (maybe aside from Aldo) ... it's just a matter of time before he starts to fall off due to age though.

Except spent the next 15 fights only losing title bouts and to Frankie Edgar an all time great.

Rivera is the first 3 round fight he ever lost. Comparison is there. They don't have to be equally skilled for the comparison to work.

I do wish this was the main event on a FS1 card because it is a fight worthy of 5 rounds.

I love Frankie, have been on the record that he is one of my favorite fighters. However, you guys are completely wrong. Frankie is getting old and he beats guys with his point style fighting. He has been known to finish guys who don't have great chins, but that isn't the case here. Ortega has a granite chin, is better on the ground, and has way more power. This is a fantastic matchup, and should be a war. IMO this is a very hard fight to call, and this is coming from a diehard frankie fan.

    I agree 100%

In boxing this would never happen before a title fight. It really is just bad promoting...Why destroy a title fight that could sell? An undeafeted contender would sell big.

Elkins vs Edgar was the match to make...Elkins is never going to be a draw...unless he beats someone like Edgar.

You can sell an ortega title fight rn

    Self bump.

Ortega was losing that round until he put Edgar into the twilight zone.

    Ortega is the real deal.
