Nice review. I've already got the set (signed, no less, I discovered last night), but it's a good preview of what is to come.

Can I just say how happy I am to see Aesopian posting around here again? Seemed like you were gone for a while.

Between that, Bill getting the black belt and Montanha posting in the thread, I am on a major f12 nostalgia kick.

Can someone read the comments at the bottom of the second review and tell me what he is talking about?

I don't know Aesopian. He's like the guy that failed critical reading in elementary school. Can't pick up on obvious tone.

He's focusing on the negative (the white/blue stuff, as if that were a negative) and not reading the positive. He seems to have some sort of emotional connection, so I'm not sure if applying cold logic is going to work in this instance.

Can the information translate to no-gi? Enough to spend the money?

    Thanks in advance,

On a technique by technique basis, most of it translates to no-gi, with obvious exceptions like gi grip fighting, 3 collar chokes and a 2-3 moves that grab the pants or belt.

I'm not gonna ask for a detailed write-up of the move, but is her North-South choke setup different from the ones Marcelo does on MGinaction?

Aesopian's back and the children dance while crystals float down, sending out delicate latticeworks of sparkling rainbow thread

He is looking for a soapbox to stand on. Evidently, he doesnt have one of his own or if he does no one is interested in what he is saying on his website.

The finish is the same, but I haven't seen Marcelo set it up from a reverse knee-on-"belly" on the near biceps. She pins down the near arm then drops down on to the neck from higher up.

I see. I think I've seen Marcelo briefly show it as one of many ways to clear the arm, but I don't think he has taught it as a specific setup on MGinaction. I do it sometimes myself - I think it makes the setup from knee on belly easier.

I've gotten through the first disk once. I enjoyed some of the partner drills, and really dug some of the gripfighting. I like the "transitional" concept application. Kind of the Kurt Osiander "if you're in this position you already F%$#ed up, bro" mentality... need to be more alert and avoid those bad spots before they become bad.
