International Duterte Harry v3: Philippines Tells U.S. It Will End Military Cooperation Deal

Chief Justices are being investigated by the Duterte admin it seems they are really fast tracking that Federalism thing and the change in constitution.

I'm sorry, but...

raw

That shit is hilarious.

Get a laugh out of Pol Pot too?
Sorry you don't see the humor in a government agency's budget being cut down to $20. It's so much that there is a cut, but rather, an agency has a $20 budget. That's a special kind of trolling.

I can tell you understand the situation, and respect your insight.

However, is it fair to blame the Philippines people to such an extend? They have one of the strictest hierarchical cultures in the world, everything is follow the leader, and looking for a "big boss" leader seems like the only alternative to a lot of people.

How can things be changed in your estimation?
the problem is Filipinos are so tired with corruption /being poor etc that any good rhetoric/fighting words makes it ok for them to vote in the madman along with all his cronies

Right, like when Pol Pot trolled all those people.

That comparison to Pol Pot is asinine. Then again, you are talking to a genius who think the Venezuelan shitshow has nothing to do with Socialism.

If anything, the hilarity of Philippines' $20 annual budget on Human Rights should be compared to the living joke that is Saudi Arabia sitting on the U.N Human Rights Commission.

Good friend’ Steven Seagal joins Duterte in visiting troops in Sulu.
Anti Duterte people got BTFO!

Hollywood action star Steven Seagal on Friday joined President Rodrigo Duterte during his visit to a military camp in Jolo, Sulu.

Duterte even invited his "good friend" Seagal to give a brief message to the troops at Camp General Teodulfo Bautista.

"Sumama talaga dito. Sabi niya, 'Sama ako,'" Duterte said.

In his message, Seagal commended the soldiers for their commitment to keep the country safe from terrorism and other crimes. He told the servicemen to take things one day at a time.

"I hope I can be involved with you in this war against these evil things. And again, I wanna thank you all for your courage, your devotion, your commitment," he said.

16 US intel agencies just tag Duterte as possible threat to democracy in South East Asia.

The CIA needs to clarify this since the Philippines still officially an ally of the USA with Mutual defense agreement although I am sure the CIA and US intel are more concern of Dutertes more pro China stance in the South China Sea issues including the Pacific portion such as the Benham rise as the Chinese continues to build up their Military strength in those islands.

MANILA (REUTERS) - Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte is taking seriously the US Intelligence Community's report tagging the firebrand leader a threat to democracy in South-east Asia, his spokesman said on Wednesday (Feb 21).

The report, produced by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, places Duterte alongside Cambodian's Hun Sen, the Rohingya crisis and Thailand's military-backed constitution as threats to democracy.

"We view this declaration from no less than the intelligence department of the United States with some concern...," presidential spokesman Harry Roque told DZMM radio.

Roque rejected the US Intelligence assessment of Duterte as a threat to democracy.

"I do not think that's true. He is a lawyer, he knows the law, he wants to uphold the rule of law, he knows about the bill of rights," he said.

Democracy and human rights in many South-east Asian nations will remain fragile in 2018 because of autocratic tendencies, rampant corruption and cronyism, the US Intelligence Community said in its Worldwide Threat Assessment report dated Feb 13.

"In the Philippines, President Duterte will continue to wage his signature campaign against drugs, corruption, and crime," the report read, adding that Duterte has suggested he could suspend the constitution and declare a revolutionary government.

This is not the first time the United States has criticised Duterte, who is notorious for his defiance of international pressure.

Duterte was infuriated by expressions of concern by former President Barack Obama's administration about drug-war killings in the Philippines.

More than 4,000 people have been killed in what police call legitimate operations against suspected drug dealers and users under the Duterte's signature war on drugs since July 2016.

Rights group accused police of summary executions, which the authorities refute.

International Criminal Court prosecutors have opened a preliminary examination into Duterte's anti-drugs campaign.

Duterte: China's South China Sea Installations Aimed at the United States, Not the Philippines
The Philippine president made clear that he does not view China’s South China Sea installations as a direct threat.
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte addressed China’s militarization of features in the Spratly group in the South China Sea on Monday, during a speech to businessmen. Duterte underlined that China’s activities were not directed at regional states, including South China Sea claimants like the Philippines, but instead at the United States. The Philippines and the United States are treaty-bound allies.

“It’s not intended for us. The contending ideological powers of the world or the geopolitics has greatly changed. It’s really intended against those who the Chinese think would destroy them and that is America,” Duterte noted. “We did nothing,” he said.

These statements are far from the first from the Philippine leadership highlighting a role for the United States as the cause for China’s militarization activities. After the most recent U.S. freedom of navigation operation in the South China Sea, a Philippine presidential spokesperson noted that freedom of navigation was “America’s problem.”

Duterte is definitely correct with that statement but I think he should avoid being speaking in behalf of the Chinese government in matters such as these.

I think Beijing might call him out for this statement or maybe not. I think the Chinese never claimed or admitted that those militarized Islands are aimed at the United States as that will be considered an official military posturing by China and could be met with retaliatory measures from the US.

Analyst: 'Careless dalliance' with China could make Philippines a regional security threat

MANILA, Philippines — A lack of a coherent Philippine policy on China and its usual accommodation of Beijing's interests may have contributed to the consolidation of Chinese military presence in the West Philippine Sea, an analyst said.

According to Jose Antonio Custodio, a non-resident fellow of think tank Stratbase Albert Del Rosario Institute, a careless "dalliance" with China might make the Philippines a major security threat in the region.

Custodio added that the news that President Rodrigo Duterte had invited China to conduct anti-piracy patrols in the Sulu and Celebes Sea could lead to a "furtherance" of its aggressive territorial ambitions.

"The Philippines used to be seen by many countries in the region as a minor security threat, and this might only be due to the spillover of terrorist activities by separatist and terrorist elements in Mindanao. A careless dalliance with Beijing just might change that," Custodio wrote in a commentary on Philstar.com.

So now if this really gets out of hand we could face an economic blockade.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has confessed to sexually abusing a maid while he was a teenager, according to a report.

In a speech on December 29, Duterte said that he had confessed to a priest going into a maid’s room while she slept and placing his fingers on her genitals, the BBC reported.

The remarks were not unusual for Duterte, who has frequently come under fire for making statements that demean or encourage violence against women. Last June and July, women’s rights activists gathered in Manila to protest Duterte’s treatment of women, including his remarks that communist rebels should be “shot in the
The new remarks stand out, however, because Duterte admitted to sexually assaulting a woman himself.

Duterte said that when he was a teenager, he walked into the maid’s room while she was asleep.

“I lifted the blanket… I tried to touch what was inside the panty,” he said, according to the BBC. “I was touching. She woke up so I left the room.”

He later came back into the maid’s room and fondled her genitals again, the BBC said.

Duterte, a frequent critic of the Catholic Church, then turned the conversation to accusations about sexual abuse by Catholic priests, according to Rappler

Gabriela Women’s Party, a political party that represents women’s rights groups, said that Duterte is “unworthy of his position and should resign,” according to the BBC.

Dude "trolled" a lot of women in his earlier years. Then, as recompense, trolled the world pretending a woman had musical talent. Genius.

Ah I dont get the joke is this a reference to Yoko Ono?

And yet the masses cheer and clap at his every speech.
He also routinely mocks the Christian religion in a very offensive way but even that will not be enough for his followers to denounce him infact they clap, cheered and laugh because its all partisan personality politics here in our country. Considering mostlikely 90% of his voters are christians.

Now imagine if Tromp said that in one of his rallies.

The exact same thing would happen. The right-wing Christians are well aware that Trump is not religious, but they consider him preferable to the alternative.
