Want to "keep" the campaign promise to fix the infrastructure? Also want to cut federal taxes for the wealthy? How can it be done?

    Simple: make states pay.

    Such genius, so finance.

Details of the long awaited infrastructure plan are here.

What does it boil down to? An unfunded mandate.

This is racist sexist and kkk
Infrastructure is the worst idea ever this year, but not last year. Last year it was great.

What we really need is another damned damn. Oooh ooh. Hear me out. Giant trench. We dig the rio out to be a mile wide and 500 feet deep. We have our own personal Panama Canal. And it’ll be a wall they can’t dig under.

But seriously though the Brent Spence bridge every president does a speech in front of is still a pice of shit. I drove over it every day. Will his be the bill that fixes it finally

We are gonna spend our way out of this recession. Wait, that was like 10 years ago.

We are going to spend our way right into a recession. And we may lack the monetary tools to help fix it when the recession does hit.

The Republican charade that they are the party of fiscal responsibility has finally, thankfully been shattered to pieces.

I think federal infrastructure spending is not likely to benefit rural towns. but they will still end up paying for them in some way.

    Am i wrong there?

I’m not a fan of the feds spending trillions on infrastructure, particularly when the line of thinking is rooted in technology and ideas that are like 30-40years old. But it seems like the feds should have some soft of overbite because “infrastructure” is intertwined and should be continuous between states. Will the states cooperate and play nice with each other. Or try and bend each other over a barrel.

    What the fuck?

Infrastructure is one of the few spending ideas that has bipartisan support.

The biggest issue with this infrastructure plan is it's completely unfunded, making it useless.

The second biggest issue is that when you spend money matters. Spending money on infrastructure during a recession does more for the economy than spending when unemployment is low. So yes, there's more support for infrastructure spending at some times.

Maybe take the time to read posts instead of diving into your reflexive "reeee criticism!", scrat.

Highways are a big part of rural areas, seeing as they connect them to the rest of the world. Also, Trump's plan wouldn't change the taxes being paid; states would just have to bite the bullet (without the help of federal monies from things like corporate taxes).

I think we both know the answer to that. See "right to work."

Living in Houston already feels like they are spending the money as it is. They've changed a lot of major highways here and are still making drastic changes near downtown.

I'm sure all the automated cars and trucks will appreciate having nice highways without potholes.

High speed internet access should be apart of this infrastructure debate. Connectivity between cars, smart grids, traffic. Kinda what the EU has in mind.

Shouldn't the discussion be about how much we spend on infrastructure rather than if we should or shouldn't?
Identity politics is crushing any cance for a constructive agenda. Pun intended!

There is a should argument if its primarily benefitting city folk at the expense of rural towns.

These massive non free market projects rarely get divvied up evenly.

I think there could be alot of costs and benefits to it, historically would it be fair to say that federal infrastruture spending has been a success?

would those variables hold true today?

    idk
