Dude has fought 14 times in the ufc, never once fighting on a numbered event as a prelim or main card ppv fight. Seems weird for a guy who has been in the ufc as long and fights as often as Alvey, this has to be a record. Lol
No way. That seems crazy. The guy was knocking people out left and right. The worst thing I can say about him is that he spells his nickname "Smilen" instead of "Smilin'"
Alvey has delivered both some cool performances and some stinkers as well He either gets the ko at some point or the fight ends up going to a dull decision. It all boils down to whether Sam will pull the trigger or not. But honestly, I'm not really surprised. Maybe he's just too goofy or something? I'm not really sure. I do try to catch his fights when I can.
Good call @BjPenn2017 . I never knew that, could come up in one of those MMA quiz questions one day . I like Alvey, he is not the best fighter but he is a cool guy and likable
I think it's a combination of him being a real hot and cold fighter being capable of putting on great or terrible performances, so the brass might be unsure about putting him on ppv.. and his willingness to literally fight anyone anytime anywhere. He will fly overseas and throwdown on a few weeks notice, this is also something alot of people overlook about him, although he sometimes does it after a sparring match where nothing happens like vs Theodeoreu. Never been a fan of his personality or even his fight style much, but I am definitely a fan of his warrior spirit and respect him for what he does.
Sam Alvey is just awful to watch. He is only in good fights when his opponent is aggressive, where he can counterpunch. When his opponent utilizes any form of gameplan, Alvey is completely shut down, and has no plan B. He's had some of the worst stinkers in UFC history.
that really is a crazy fact. dude seems like he's been around forever. if you look at his fight history it seems like he's fought in every city in the world hahaha
Bangor, Maine Sydney, Australia Porto Alegre, Brazil Adelaide, Australia Nashville, Tennesse Twice Ottawa, Ontario Sioux Falls, South Dakota Vancouver, BC Mexico City Twice Denver, Colorado Gdansk, Poland Orlando, Florida Not anywhere like Vegas, Rio, London once. mad crazy
small show guy just happy to come & bang bang his wife, make 10th kid return for another paycheck because kids aint cheap rinse& repeat
In his last 9 fights, he's only fought on the main card once. Although he's scheduled to fight on yet another UFC Fight Night card in June, at least it will probably be on the main card because he's fighting Gian Villante, who has fought on 5 straight main cards including UFC 196 and UFC 220.
