No, they didnt want to clean up the short. They wanted the APPEARANCE of cleaning up the sport. And from appearances, MMA stars are busted a lot. I am totally talking appearances. A casual sports fan or person sees UFC stars and champs popping left and right. That doesn't fuckin look good. So it did backfire. It was a PR movie that blew up in their face.
And yes, short term thinking to pass it off on some fool.
The investor Warren Buffet talks about spheres of competence. He quotes an IBM guy who said he isnt a genius but he is smart in spots and sticks close to those spots. MMA is outside the sphere of competence of the new owners. You know more than they fuckin do. All that shit looks good on paper but we know it is a con. People act like investors are these fuckin geniuses. Not even close. Buffet would pass on this because he doesn't understand it. Neither do the new owners.
