Do you think any version of Melendez could have implemented Diaz's strategy against McGregor?

Melendez from strikeforce would definitely out tough Conor for a W.

He would eat shots to give some and Conor will just wear himself out or Gil would go for takedown rnd 2 i don't see him losing that one. He used to be raw.

Strategy? He got dropped many times, ended up bloodied up in both fights, his style and size were what helped him and carried him through both fights.

You're dumb, look at the list of fighters Melendez has fought literally all killers especially in strike force, war with Josh thompson (who kod Diaz) Gilbert has NEVER been kod or tkod ever..

Too many kids have short term memory a prime strike force Melendez is a hell of a boxer and is a terrible fight for Conor due similar reasons Nate was tougness and cardio add in wrestling

Yes, he was a beast before USADA.

Melendez would have had a much easier time than Diaz did. The difference is this fight would have taken place at 155 so it's a completely different fight not to mention Melendez is an elite level fighter. To compare Melendez to Diaz especially at a different weight class is fucking insane.

Actually it was Connor having a bunch of money and lack of training is what cost him both fights(in a lot of people's opinion). We'll never know. What we do know and this is a fact, you mentioning blood on Diaz's face as if Conor was doing a good job is completely retarded and has no relevance here.

I think it would have been the same as McGregor/Alvarez. McGregor vs Pettis in his prime would've been fun as hell though.

LOL. Dude's barely old enough to ride the roller coasters at fair, and you think he's out of his prime? lmao.

Anthony Pettis was never good? Congrats on watching your first MMA fight last week.

LOL, so you think he's losing caught he hit 28? lmao, so stupid.

Pettis shined during a weak era, that's why he can't hang with the boys now.

Melendez would've never had anything for Conor, and I am a much bigger fan of Melendez than Conor.

Looking at how Diaz was able to neutralize Conor's style in their first fight and much of their second, do you think in theory Melendez would have ever been able to? If not, what would have stopped it? It never seemed as though there was any sort of drastic chasm between the level of Diaz vs Melendez in terms of overall skill. Did Diaz simply have the right style at the time in order to shut down Conor's style? A difference in how well they could move and their reach? Or other factors?
Diaz was basically a punching bag who relies on the opposition to gas out. anyone with an iron chin is a chance against connie.

Pettis was incredible during his run. It sucks that you missed that. Maybe it looks crap on Wikipedia but it was fantastic to watch. One of the best strikers that MMA has seen, with great submissions too. I hope that you get a chance to catch up.

Welcome to modern MMA.

Strikeforce Champ version of Giblert could win for sure, but not with that strategy

Skip the blood, Nate was close to being KO`d many times during both fights, thats not a strategy to rely on.
