Do I have to watch Twin Peaks S01-S02 in order to understand S03?

You'll be so fucking lost even if you do. I loved the original series but couldn't get into the new one. It's not grounded at all. It's almost like being high all the time. If you don't come down once in a while, then being high doesn't feel special anymore.

I am only a few episodes in, but yeah, that's kind of how I feel so far.

I think to episode 3. Maybe 4. Basically after way too much time was spent in the red curtain place talking to trees and running down the same hallway.

Three was the last ep I watched as well. I actually intend to just start the season over again.

Can anyone confirm if it gets less weird/more like traditional Twin Peaks after that?

To be fair, you can watch Seasons 1 and 2 and you still won't understand Season 3 because it's dog shit in comparison.
