Social media imo. There's research on how girls and boys differ in terms of how they manifest aggressiveness. Boys use violence and direct threats to bully others. Girls bully other girls by speaking behind their back, starting nasty rumors about them, ostracizing them from groups, putting down their appearance, etc. Male bullying hasn't changed. But social media has opened up a whole new channel in terms of female on female bullying, which today has no frontiers and continues 24/7 even after everyone has gone home.

Yeah, I agree with you. Not the barefoot and pregnant part, but male hormones do have a major impact on behavior and natural tendencies. I wouldn't argue about women's right to do anything they want, but there is a difference between what is within your rights and what will make you happy. Not all, but for a majority of women, motherhood is more fulfilling than punching a clock and coming home to an empty house.

Yeah I would assume social media in general would affect women in a more negative way due to this. They are also generally more social, so probably end up becoming more addicted to it (not sure if they do get more addicted but I would guess they do)

Also the perpetuation of pornography and images of beautiful women creates a pretty difficult standard to try to compete with for male attention (or even just the perception of needing to). Can't imagine that is healthy.

The fakeness and illusory nature of social media that doesn't represent reality would have all sorts of weird effects on people.

Social media has caused serious self-esteem issues with young girls who are now expected to post pictures of themselves on the Internet and have people either like them or not like them on a daily basis.

Girls as young as middle school are judged on their appearance every single day in the harshest of ways by peers. It really is a twisted society that we are living in in that way.

I was just talking about this with a few friends of mine the other day, and they were saying that as young girls they did not even think about how they looked. They wore goofy clothes and acted like kids. But now girls the same age wear make up and take selfies. It is disturbing, they are not emotionally prepared for that kind of judgment.

I think most people in general overestimate how easy it is to die via pharmaceuticals like sleeping pills, but prevailing gender roles drives men toward bloody and violent displays like blowing one's head off and drive women away from disfiguring methods of suicide. Also, men are more likely to own and have access to firearms in general, but I'd say that's a slightly less important consideration.

(B) It doesn't affect men the same way. The science is pretty clear how men are wired when it comes to window of fertility and the sheer number of sperm as opposed to eggs for women. Men can have 500 kids and keep having them into their 60s, so the idea of "nesting" isn't the same. Men have violent tendencies more outwardly, in the form of murders or mass killings etc, based on specifically not having enough sexual opportunities.

While I would tend to agree with some of your conclusions, I continually hesitate to believe that women actually meaningfully hurt, let alone completely diminish, their value in being wed-able due to promiscuity. This is a phenomenon that I observe to only exist in speculation by men online - men who would marry an attractive girl regardless of whether they had 0 or 10 previous partners, and who would not marry an unattractive girl regardless of the same.

What's your non-sexist explanation for women harming themselves and having failed suicide attempts significantly more often than men?

Already stated it. Prevailing gender roles internalize female violence (self-harm) and externalize male violence (homicide/battery/etc.) + the methods of suicide and women being averse to methods that disfigure their corpse because of the value of beauty.
