This is exactly right. Going for submissions often risks giving up position. Khabib knows what he is doing and has an undefeated record to prove it.

Conor is competent on the ground, but has been submitted 3 times. Albeit two were a long time ago, but it is just delusional to argue he is better than khabib at grappling.

Khabib clearly is better than him. Khabib just dominated him on the ground in those exchanges. You can tell Khabib is on another level than Islam. Theres nothing to indicate hes better than Khabib like you claimed. Khabib is his mentor and is on another level than him.

I don't think Khabib has had any issues with those 2 though, since he openly trains with them and they say he doesn't lose grappling exchanges. Which is crazy to think given those 2's credentials. Khabib is just an animal.

Watch the footage of DC grappling with Khabib. It's not even close to 100%, and DC has said before that Khabib isn't involved in his training camps because he's too small to go hard with him. Khabib is definitely a beast but he's not on even footing with DC and Cain.

4 triangles, 2 kimuras, 1 armbar, 1 rnc, 2 NAGA Grappling Championships, and 3 Sambo Gold medals for Khabib.. would say he has a decent sub skill set thus far in his career. Whereas McGregor only has one sub back in 2012, on his entire record. It's ok to be a fan of McGregor, but to act as if Conor has an on par, or better skill set in grappling or submission grappling as Khabib, is ignorant in doing so. Oh, speaking of 2012 and you mentioning ADCC, Khabib did win the NAGA in the Welterweight Division, under ADCC rule set.

I love Khabib's triangle and armbar transitions. One always sets the other up. There are a lot of subtle things that he does that goes unappreciated.

You'd have to understand what you were watching in order to appreciate it. Unfortunately for canner fans, if it's not one of his press conferences or his striking highlights, they don't have a clue.

Khabib is def a solid grappler and has a very nice sub game.. But AJ Agazarm, JT Torres, Ricky Lundell, Ed Ruth, and Gordon Ryan are D1 level wrestlers or close to it, and are very good in submission grappling, possibly even better then Khabib.

Clearly somebody has never watched ADCC.... you can basically win in ADCC if you takedown and disengage. Rinse and repeat. At least learn about ADCC before you post about it.

Torres and Ryan, DI wrestlers? really? Ryan has shitty wrestling compared to any college wrestler. He is an outstanding grappler, but close to a DI wrestler? There are many great wrestlers in mma and fewer in submission grappling, yet you mention Gordan Ryan. lol. Ryan is nowhere near being a DI level wrestler, i wouldn't even say a DIII level wrestler. Ruth is by far the best wrestler that you mentioned.

But yeah, they are better submission grapplers (I don't think Ruth is, just yet. He is still learning).
