Did Conor really face the best at FW?

Yes. He knocked out the greatest Featherweight of all time in 13 seconds, why are you ignoring this? He also beat Chad Mendes on short notice, and he made a man out of Max Holloway as evidenced by the fact that Max hasn't lost a fight since then, and is currently one win away from tying MM and GSP for the longest current win streak in the organization.

Holloway, Porrier and a champ that hadnt lost in 10 years

Beating Aldo is one of the best wins ever. But Max and Porrier were not close to the fighters they are today

This is why Conor can do what he wants. Conor hasn't fought in MMA for two years, hasn't fought at Featherweight for three yet he's still the talk of the boards.

Frankie and Cub fight, people want to talk about Conor.

Cub Swanson had no problems with Dustin Poirier, but failed twice against Frankie Edgar.

Yet Conor's hardcore fans act like Poirier is a great win, as if he'd be on the same level as Frankie.

Frankie, Ortega and Cub are above all the FW's Conor fought, except for Holloway who was very green at the point.
Ortega was a nobody popping for roids fighting in the prelims. Cub has been busy losing to every top 10 he fights. Frankie is the only top talent thst Conor didn’t fight.

Meanwhile khabib still hasn’t fought anyone of note. Cody got a ts after beating a couple prospects. Dj defended against Borg, Elliot, and Reis. Let’s not even talk about 170 and 185...

Point is, Conor has had a very typical, if not stacked, resume leading up to his title shot.

Conor wasn’t what he is today when he fought those. Both of those guys had more fights in the ufc.

What the fucks your point? This thread is about if he faced the best FWs, not if Conor was at his best

Also was Conor not what he was today? In his last 3 fights he has had his second (maybe first) most impressive win ever, but also his two least impressive fights in the UFC. He looked just as good at FW. Max and Dustin look MUCH more improved

They only look improved because they haven’t been fighting Conor.

Max gets hit a tonne and waits for his opponent to gas, ala aldox2
And Poirier simply hasn’t been fighting as tough competition since getting ko’d in the 1st round.

And let’s not forget, eddie looked like he’d improved after beating RDA, then he fought Conor...

Max was clearly one of the better fighters at fw even at that stage. Dustin was a true and proven top ufc fighter, had previously been ranked at Lw and was doing well at fw. Siver I believe was bottom of the top 15. Mendes was #2. Jose was the best ever. So to answe the thread without having any meaningful discussion because it doesn’t suit your agenda: yes, he faced the best sans Frankie.

Aldo and Mendes were pretty much considered the 2 best in the division, with Aldo being considered an all time MMA great. So yeah he beat the best to win the belt, but then he bounced.

Please tell me this is satire

Using Fight Matrix rankings to discredit people's wins is just really biased.

It currently has Alvarez as the #1 Lightweight.

True, but Aldo was too angry for his own good in that fight. Who knows what would have happened in an instant rematch?
Most likely the same thing. Conor’s shit talking got in Aldo’s head before they even fought. Now with a one punch knock out to haunt Aldo and further taunt him Conor would wreck Aldo mentally but even worse the next time.

Aldo wouldn’t rush in but he’s be hesitant every single time which would still lead him to getting countered and KO’d.

RDA -> Alvarez -> McGregor -> McGregor Inactive -> Alvarez

Just because the UFC throws an interim title on someone's waist doesn't suddenly make them the best.

I miss old man 145 Conor..

Jayzuz.

Walking dead man.

I know you are very new here but before you joined, there was this guy called Jose Aldo who was regarded as the FW GOAT who easily beat Frankie Twice and another roided up elite wrestler who had a huge KO streak and multiple title shots called Chad Mendes.

He basically everyone he should’ve expect Edgar, but Edgar lost his opportunity when he got defeated by Aldo a second time.
