Dekkers style influence over Thailand

As @JayMuaythai said perhaps it affected the fighters at Sitmonchai. Thepnimit and Pornsanae started out as more technical fighters when they were young though, and later in their career they resorted to using mainly low kicks and punches.

Did it? Now maybe you have inside information on them, but wouldn't they have started their careers a while after Dekkers had already made his mark? And I've only seen very limited footage of Pornsanae in his younger days (and none of Thepnimit), as far as I can tell there isn't very much out there, and he looked like the exact same fighter to me.

Obviously he was never a technician like Sam-A but does not look like the same fighter to me he is a bit more technical with more mid kicks and less jab - cross- hook - low kick combos. He said in an interview that he started out as a knee fighter before discovering his KO power. I'd guess he had already discovered it by the time of the fight in that video

Dekkers impressed the Thais, they got more respect for the boxing part of the game. He never was the best but got their respect. When I was in Thailand and a cab driver asked me where I was from and I said I lived in NL, they all imediately said Dekkels, Dekkels!!

after spending time in Thailand, when Dekkers fought against farangs he would fight just like a thai, while muay thai scene never had a significant increase in use of boxing related to him whatsoever, so if anything, Thailand had a greater infuence over Dekkers than the other way around.

Thailand never cared for Dekkers nor did he even win any major stadium titles. He had more of an influence in his home country, than he ever did in Thailand. Those are just facts.
