DC fans, how do you explain 40-year-old being competitive with a 30-year-old on steroids?

I just can't grasp that concept, what DC is a genetic freak or something? He works and trains harder? How did he compensate that huge disadvantage?

Gilbert Melendez tested positive for steroids after his loss to Eddie Alvarez. Does this mean Eddie is also on roids? Of course not, being on steroids doesn't = automatic win. On top of that steroids doesn't affect everyone the same. Some steroid users like Overeem and Vitor turn into absolute monsters, while the aforementioned Melendez had one of his worst performances.

    He wasn't really competitive...

Competed for the first three rounds in both. But couldn't keep up in the first, and couldn't stay conscious in the second.

Stop callin him 40 before he's 40...its absolutely conceivable that he could compete with sheer skill even though hes on his last legs career wise.

Cormier is just a great fighter.

Its even more amazing given the size advantage Jon had.

    Jon was never the GOAT.

DC is an Olympic caliber wrestler and lost twice to that boy.
Yoel the same being an older guy of olympic stock. you don't just fluke your way to Olympic squads, you have to be a high level athlete.

If fighters didn´t get a huge advantage with PEDs, do you think Jon woud´ve thrown his entire career away the way he did?

    Don´t be naive.

They do give fighters an advantage but sometimes skill and other factors can make up for that difference.
