David Bowie

Labyrinth freaked me the fuck out when I was a kid.

Any Bowie fans get into Tin Machine? Its been years since I've listened to them.

(Bowie knew as far back as 1989 what was coming)

Blackstar is an excellent album.
He didn't give a fuck to put any hits or radio friendly songs on it, they're real musical statements from an uncompromised artist.
He was one of a kind .

His acoustic version of Brel's My Death is one of the most powerful things I've ever heard.

The making of the David Bowie song ‘Heroes’ as related by the producer of the track Tony Visconti. An interesting look into how the song came together track by track. It covers Brian Eno's role as well as Robert Fripp's use of Frippertronics. Also discusses how the vocals were recorded using three gated mics placed at various distances from Bowie. Well worth the watch.

The music of Labyrinth
Modern Love
Fame

But this is this is the reason I have 3 versions of Hurt on my playlist:

Looking back we lost two true musical geniuses in David Bowie and Prince. Anyone interested in the Berlin trilogy I recommend reading the 33 1/3 series' book about his collaborations with Eno. The trilogy is Low, Heroes and Lodger. Amongst my favorite Bowie songs:

Station to Station
Space Oddity
Up the Hill Backwards
Be My Wife
Young Americans
Sound + Vision
Heroes
It's No Game (1 & 2)
All the Young Dudes
his production of Lou Reed's Transformer
his production of The Stooges
Blue Jean
Song for Robert Zimmerman
Covers of Pixies and Jesus & Mary Chain & Paul Simon etc. songs
Knock On Wood cover
his saxophone at the end of Reed's Walk on the Wild Side
Ziggy Stardust
Fame

holy shit way too many to mention

I heard a Bowie song the other day but don't know which one it is. It's started off very Bowie-esque for a minute or two then got instrumental, progy and very different for a few minutes then called back to the first part to end the song. Never heard it before but it was really good...

Labyrinth is my shit and The ride and fall of Ziggy stardust is a classic lp...
