Cormier is a nightmare matchup for Stipe though. On paper, Cormier is very likely to wrestlefuck Stipe.

Unfortunately for Dana, he had previously sent in Cormier to interview Miocic for the "In The Clinch" series. Those who get to know Stipe tend to fall under his spell. You saw how he was sticking up for Stipe at the press conference while Dana was babbling about Ford Escorts.

I’ve heard DC and Stipe are pretty good friends (bonded over their mutual distaste for Roy Nelson) so between that and DC lobbying for Cain I just don’t see this fight happening.

DC's basically a smaller version of Cain. He'd probably beat all HW's, already beat some good ones with zero trouble, and against Stipe it's essentially clinch time. Defend that like Jones and you got a chance to beat him. Stipe probably won't.

Regardless of all that this fight should happen next. No good new fights for either DC or Stipe in their divs, unless Cain comes back.

Stipe has been champ for a while now and isn’t moving the needle. There was a huge buzz about Francis and Dana wanted to cash in on that.
On top of that Stipe wants more money too.
