What did you guys think of Cyborgs performance?

After she settled down in the second round, her boxing training really showed imo. She's always been someone who just plods forward and overwhelms her opponents with winging punches and toughness, but she looked really good out there last night.

Proactive headmovement, small movements, took her time, cut off the ring and went for the kill. She looked like a real boxer out there.

What do you guys think? And how does her and Germaine or Holly match up?

IDK man, muffin top didn't look like she belonged in a professional fight. Cyborg looked like she was coasting. That said, I think she's clearly the best 145 pound woman and mauls the rest of them.

No other women can touch her. It's not even close. I was really impressed with how long Evinger survived

I agree with this.

However I wonder how much steroids she's had through the years and if that doesn't have a big impact on how big and muscly she is today to impose that dominance over other women?

I think they made a huge difference. I wouldn't be surprised if she's still on a little bit of something cause she's still really muscley.

It's a bit unfair then... And then people have a go at Germaine de Randamie for not wanting to fight cyborg. At the same time if someone's physical ability has heavily been impacted by doing illegal PEDs I don't see why you should be blamed for refusing to fight them.

Evinger looks like dogshit, but she's actually a very gritty fighter with a smothering style and nasty top control. Watch her last few fights, she gets the job done. Not that she had any chance against Cyborg.

Cyborg is always fighting girls that doesn't belong in the ring with her, that may change now. Still, she looked a lot more measured than usual, and with a lot better boxing. The first round was her usual self, but the second and third she showed that her training with Parillo and sparring with Shields paid off.

This is vintage Cyborg:

This was her yesterday:

I thought that was pretty cool to see, especially at this stage of her career.

I think its kind of sad for women that they're not taking seriously as their arguable best MMA fighter is a massive steroid abuser that is still getting away with it and being allowed to compete.

I reckon the rules should be: get caught once = 2-year ban, get caught twice = banned for life.

I think she's pretty much mauls every woman on the ufc roaster.

I think she's just to physically strong & has very good striking. It might be interesting with holly because she's deceptively strong also & great at countering.

But it would be interesting to see her pre steroids and post steroids.

I mean during the post fight interview when she was speaking to Joe Rogan - her frame/jaw was like Rogan's.

Before too much steroids abuse (and probably already was doing them):

The only problem I see with this is that it can be possible to have accidental or false positives. They give steroids to animals too and if you eat tainted beef it can show up in your blood. Tested athletes should pretty much be avoiding supplements altogether as they are unregulated and often contain extra drugs not listed on the ingredients.

One last problem that's already happened are situations like Nick Diaz, though that's an issue with marijuana being banned in the first place when it shouldn't be illegal for athletes. His ban is inappropriate and the blame for that really lies on the corrupt blonde lady they have on the NSAC board

Not particularly impressed, that fight should've been over as quickly as Nunes vs. Ronda. Yes she used a bunch of head movement & feints and patiently picked her shots, but it was completely unnecessary. She kept putting herself out of position to land follow-ups whenever she landed a big shot, she'd either reset out of range or fail to keep in range, it was baffling to watch. Why bother trying to be slick against an opponent who a)sucks too much for feints to even work, b)can't even hurt anyone with strikes, and c)has zero striking defence. That fight should've looked like Nunes vs. Ronda, all but over with the first solid punch, and finished within a minute.

In a straight standup fight de Randamie beats her, she's a more efficient & refined striker who likely hits just as hard. But it's MMA so she gets taken down easily and beaten senseless on the ground. Holly either gets finished or loses a decision, she's too tentative, low accuracy, and has no power in her strikes except for her left round kick. She's not slick enough to stick Cyborg on the outside and point fight to a decision and I doubt she can land a head kick. And while Holly is hard to take down, she's a fish out of water and easy pickings if you get her on the ground.

I honestly think that part of it is that she wanted to test out her new skills and that she's trying to become a more composed fighter. With age, that is probably a smart thing. You can't keep going balls to the wall and bullrushing everyone forever.

More importantly though if you watch the first round again, when Cyborg was being her aggressive self and rushed in Evinger would tie her up. She even got a takedown on her for a little while. Evingers only chance to win was clinch, takedown and then top control. If she got on top of Cyborg she could actually have a chance, because her topgame is probably one of the best, if no the best, in WMMA. I think it's pretty clear that the gameplan was keep your distance and pick her apart.

I think you're pretty spot on regarding the other matchups.

Photoshop, light room and make up, can confirm.

Also - she was on steroids at this point as well I believe. She had the bigger frame that she didn't have at the start of her career:

I kinda thought that Megan Anderson would beat Cyborg before the fight was cancelled.

I think she's been working with Jason Parillo. He seems to be good at making small adjustments to a fighter's skills that make huge impacts on their effectiveness.

what would have been wrong with that?

She could have ended the fight after the first punch connected, if she jumped on her. It was clear she was playing a cat and mouse game, trying to showcase her skills against an much weaker oppponent.

Cyborg let Evinger hang in there, not the other way around.
