Cub Swanson punching back at the UFC over transparency

Yes. 2013. Five fight win streak, four of them t/kos. Mendes was the only other top guy on a win streak, also five wins with four finishes but against much weaker competition. They made cub sit on a shelf for a year, then forced him to take another fight. He won, but instead of giving him the shot they gave it to Mendes who had also not fought in year but apparently didn't need to "stay active." This was despite being on a shittier run and having a much more recent 1st round KO loss to Aldo.

After that they made Cub fight Frankie to get his title shot, despite never having any other FW contenders fight a top three fighter before getting a title shot and immediately giving Conor a title shot off of siver and poirier, whom Cub had beaten but apparently only for him wasn't good enough. The only excuse for this is because Conor is popular.

By any meritable examination Cub was completely screwed over and in a just society should have been able to sue the UFC for his mistreatment and the financial loss of his unfairly denied and entirely earned title opportunity. And anyone who actually gives a single fuck about the sport of MMA should be upset about it.

lol calm down. it wasn't that serious.

When you unite as a collective you have more leverage with a labor strike to negotiate better terms. It's how auto workers make $50 an hour instead $5. NFL football players used to work full time jobs in the 1960s before union. Now all millionaires. etc.

Capital depends on labor being divided. Republicans specialize in it. They tell you blame mexicans blame blacks etc for your woes instead of them. Divide and conquer.
Elities tells poor whites it's the minorities then tell the minorities it's racist uneducated poor whites when really all poor people want the same thing. A bigger slice of the pie. It's called a racial bride.

If people stopped focusing on their differences and started looking at their similarities than normal people could actually take on the 1%.

A racial bride? Or racial divide? Or racial bribe? LOL

No a racial bride is when you divide races of people by promising one race something and in return that race doesn't unite with other races.

Not sure where Cub’s entitlement comes from. Just being a UFC vet doesn’t automatically give you a title shot. He lost vs Max and vs Frankie in what seemed to be title eliminators.

His entitlement comes from riding a 4-fight win streak, barely being top 5, and being matched up against Brian Ortega who will take all of that away.

To be fair, Conor beat Siver and Poirier much more dominantly. Plus, Conor had beaten Holloway (who wasn't top 10 at the time, but still a good win). Cub has lost to every top 5 fighter he's ever fought. He's the definition of a gatekeeper.

A union would benefit the fighters on so many levels you can't be serious with that question
Please answer what a union would do for them that their managers can't. They're independent contractors, so is this union for all of MMA, or just UFC, is it mandatory? A lot of bugs need to worked out.

Isn't that what hollowed out the entire city of Detroit? The roster is kind of a revolving door, so I'm not sure how a union could even work.

No, Cub is a former contender who got forcibly and undeservably relegated to being a gatekeeper. That's the whole point. Winning and being dominant should mean something. You can make all the accusations and assumptions you want, but there have been far bigger upsets than Cub possibly beating Aldo. He earned the chance to try and was unfairly dismissed.

Nostra you're way smarter then this. A union would solidify fighter pay and benefits. It would bring more transparency to UFC's books leading to fighters bringing home more of the overall take. It would severely level the playing field in the fighters favor and give them actual rights. Union is the answer here as far as fighters are concerned IMO.

Also the way it's being presented to congress I believe it would be across the board for MMA as a whole. Bellator is currently working with the UFC to fight against this. Why would they fight it, because they would have to actually take care of their product.

Yup old tactic. We need to wake up as a people before all nations are basically slave labor shops. I dont have much hope though.

He's not the first guy to go on a long win streak before getting a title shot. Other people have went on tougher wins streaks than him, too. Edgar for instance went on a 5-fight win streak before getting an INTERIM title fight. Ferguson had to go on a 9-fight win streak before fighting for an interim title. Both those guys beat tougher competition than Cub.

What are you talking about? That's completely irrelevant. No one else was on a better win streak than him in his division at the time he was being passed over. That's the only part here that matters.

No, what really matters is Edgar beat Cub's ass like a congo drum and thus deserved a title shot more than Cub.

I'm talking about logistics more than efficacy. Obviously it's easier said than done based on padt attempts. Yeah, if you're signed to a team, you're more an employee so it works there. Kind if a different deal with dudes getting paid per fight. Seems like it would thin out the roster a lot.

if they're not getting USADA out, fuck the idea of an union

Holy shit are you stupid. Way to give up on even trying to make a point, dingus. Next time just don't reply, save yourself the embarrassment.
