Altering someone's mood and making them comply with your demands while they have been placed in alter state. As you mentioned, advertisements do shit like that. McDonalds uses nostalgia in their commercials. Like you are experiencing child hood which was a happy time.

That being said, hypnotizing someone is serious skills. No joke!

The 1951 case of Bjørn Schouw Nielsen is the most notorious hypnotist crime I know. Nielsen was doing time in Denmark for treason after WWII. He started to brainwash his nazi minded cell mate Pelle Hardrup by convinsing him, that the future of Denmark is in their hands and they need to fund a fascist uprising. After they got out, he hypnoticed Hardrup to rob a bank. The Hardrup ended up shooting a clerk and the bank manager and both Nielsen and Hardrup got a life sentence.

There’s possibly a spin-off crime as a Finnish neo-nazi Kai Aalto instructed his pal in mental hospital to hijack a plane by hypno-magnetic powers in 80’s. He wanted to get funds for his new political party. It did not go as planned.
