I went to letterman once, the guests were Jack Hannah and Carla Bruni--she played the guitar.

Overall it was a pretty shitty experience. I went with my mother and our seat was behind a giant pillar and we couldn't even see most of the set. Plus they took a long time to get started and didn't allow anyone to return if they went to the bathroom--so I had to pee really bad the whole time. Looking back, I should have just left in the middle of him speaking.
